Is this a scam?
I don't know where to put this and I don't know how to title the thread, but I need a little advice or input. I bought something recently. I got two messages from the seller. The first that they were getting ready to prepare the product. Now that I read it again it does feel a bit AI generated.
The second message was them telling me that they switched carriers for it to be better or something. The listing has it under Brooklyn New York, but now they're using some carrier I never heard of called Aquiline International. Which when I looked it up is apparently based in United Arab Emirates.
So is this some kind of scam and should I just escalate this to Ebay or do I have to wait a period? I'm pretty sure I won't get what I ordered since they already lied about where they're based out of. Thanks for any comments and help!

·9 months agoALL eBay buyers, as well as ALL eBay sellers, need to read the Money Back Guarantee for buyers, preferably BEFORE beginning to buy or sell here.
As a buyer, if your item is not as described when you receive it, you have 30 days after the last estimated delivery date to open an item not as described case with eBay.
Or, if you do not receive your item by its last estimated delivery date per eBay, you, the buyer, can open an item not received case with eBay. In that situation, however, we often recommend you wait a few days more, especially if there's tracking proving that your package is moving through the system.
How about taking a moment to read the MBG?

·9 months agoThis is a pretty common occurrence. As mentioned above, often times foreign sellers say in the listing that they are shipping from US, but they are actually shipping from overseas.
I find this very annoying. It happened to me a 2 times a few years ago and each time the shipping took over 3 weeks. I now look at the location a seller's account is registered before I buy something.
If I were you, even if I received the order, I'd report the seller for falsely stating the shipping location.

·9 months agoThe seller from Turkey, looks like they are dropshipping from Tic Toc, so there's no telling where it'll be shipped from.

·9 months agoMost likely you purchased an item from a seller who is based in China or another country like UAB as you said and using a US location. If you click on the sellers profile and click "about" you can find out where this seller is based. I wouldn't worry about it just yet. Just keep track on the estimated delivery time. If the package doesn't arrive 1 day after that time you can file an item not received case.

·9 months agoI've had packages delivered by unknown carriers before, that's not a scam in and of itself.
If you don't get what you ordered in the promised time frame, you can always open an Item Not Received case and be covered by ebay's MBG.

OP9 months agoSee that's fine if its just a carrier I didn't know about. But on the listing it said USPS and Brooklyn New York. So I didn't bother to look into the seller since they had a good enough rating even if they didn't have many. That is on me if it's a scam.
But then I got two messages from them. The last being that they changed carriers. And now it's Aquiline International. It hasn't updated yet but I looked into it and it says it's based in United Arab Emirates. So that gives me red flags?
