Is paypal no longer an option for shipping labels?
My shipping costs always came out of paypal. On 1/23 I printed labels and they came from my PP balance as usual. I just noticed the last four I printed are now coming from my e-bay sales that have not paid out yet.
Did e-bay change their policy? Did they get sneaky and alter a setting that I have to find and manually change back to PP?
I much prefer the shipping to come from PP if possible.

·1 year agoI rarely buy labels through eBay - usually buy from a different shipping provider. But I do use eBay labels every now and then and eBay often switches my account from PayPal to eBay funds, but there's always a pop up alerting me (assuming I'm buying a USPS label) so I can easily switch back.
If I switch to UPS or FedEx there is no alert since eBay funds is the only option for those services; always has been since managed payments.
So if you buy a UPS or FedEx label then switch back to USPS you have to remember to switch back from eBay funds to PayPal since payment method is a sticky setting.
Edit: Saw 1/28 before replying and thought this was from today, not last year.

·1 year agoSame problem here. Ebay rep told me you can only now use PayPal with labels from USPS. UPS and FedEx labels only use your ebay funds. Makes my financial records a lot more complicated. Way to go ebay and thanks for not telling us about the change! I'm sure it's something that makes ebay more money and who cares about sellers problems!! 👎

·2 years agoApprox. seven dys. ago, a change notice appeared when I was printing a label. As I was not interested, I scrolled down and then reverted to PayPal. Had e-Bay NOT programmed a notice, I would have been concerned.

·2 years agoI figured it was points.
Not a motivator to add another middleman for me.
Eventually, something goes wrong and when it does it is hard to track down the culprit.

OP2 years agoUsually a good school of thought except I have never had an issue with PP over twenty years of using them for E-bay and my writing royalties and other services.
TBH, I worry about E-bay being the issue more than anything else.

OMG! Yes, thank you! I am having the SAME problem and cannot resolve it. Please let me know if you get it figured out. I have been trying for the last week.

·2 years agoEarlier in the week when I went to ship a package, a pop up came on the screen saying ebay was now defaulting the payment from your pending funds.
On the labeling printing page, as @a_c_green showed in their above post, you can change the default back at the bottom on the page.
I did, and only had to change it back once, it has stayed to the option I wanted since I changed it back that one time.

OP2 years agoThanks I changed it but will be sure to do so each time before I print.

·2 years agoJust check it before printing, mine has not defaulted back so far since I changed it.

·2 years agoThere have been others complaining about this.
I still have a check box to pay using PayPal but I have no reason to do so, I can almost always pay out of my Ebay balance, and when I cannot, they use my bank account.
I have no need for another middleman.

The only reason I like to use Amex via Paypal is for the points earned. I don't get points through using my funds or bank account. Over $6300 in shipping labels paid through Amex earns quite a bit.

·2 years agoCheck your funding source selection in the lower left corner of the Shipping label form. It sounds as if it has somehow gotten changed over to your pending funds:
The funding selection made here is supposed to be sticky, applied to future labels unless or until you change to the other selection again.

OP2 years agoThank you for that. I've probably been seeing that screen for so long I don't notice it anymore.
I'll check, and if its somehow been switched, I'm sure it was no accident sigh...

OP2 years agoYou were right, the check box is not on the screen when print a label shows up, you have to scroll down which is why I didn't notice it, and sure enough it was switched to e-bay funds and I know I didn't do that, especially seeing I forgot the box was even there over time.
A fortunate 'mistake' for e-bay to get more money.

·2 years agoI think in fact they're getting less money that way, because when "Your funds" is selected, your postage costs are being deducted from the buyer's funds, so eBay gets that much less to hold. Conversely, when "Your saved PayPal account" is selected, you're funding your labels from PayPal, so you're using your own money for that.
(In the long run it probably all evens out anyway. I assume you're logging your postage costs for the appropriate deductions on your future tax return.)

·2 years agoFor me, for figuring my payments and expenses, it is much easier keeping my label payments separate from my payouts.

·2 years agoNot an ebay mistake, ebay is defaulting everyones payments to come out of pending funds. See my post for a little while ago.

Gremlins have changed mine on me during the night, too. Luckily/Sadly(?), I've conditioned myself to scroll down with each label. Luckily/Sadly(?), I don't sell much so I've conditioned myself to not consider it a major annoyance.
