Is EIS safe for shipping to China?
Have some offers on good items from China buyer. EIS seems to make sense here, but I recall hearing a while ago that many shipments were not being marked as tracked to the US location, which sort of defeats the whole purpose. Anybody have any recent experience with EIS along these lines?

·10 months ago@eastmeetswest i use EIS exclusively for int'l shipments to buyers. i have always rec'd a delivery scan to the shipping center in Illinois and that is the end of my responsibility.
If there was ever a problem after the delivery to the shipping center, i never knew about it bc eBay takes care of everything after the delivery to their shipping center.

·10 months agoSome have claimed that the USPS, by policy, does not scan packages delivered to certain freight forwarders, but this claim says isn't the case with the EIS facility in Illinois. That might be the source of the confusion.
I have sent things to all of the major freight forwarders (non-EIS) and never had a package not scanned as delivered to a freight forwarder facility. I have also read the DMM, and there is no policy about not scanning packages delivered to freight forwarding companies. I have no idea where this got started, probably by an employee somewhere refusing to do their job, but it is not policy nor the norm.

Are you sure that you're not confusing eBay International Shipping (EIS) with eBay Standard Envelope (ESE)?
There have been many reports of insufficient (or totally lacking) tracking issues with the ESE; but none that I have read regarding EIS.

The only reports of items not being tracked to the US location that I have seen regularly involved Freight Forwarders and USPS, not the EIS program. International buyers can use "Freight Forwarders" in lieu of EIS. The US locations are typically, but not always, in Delaware, Florida, Oregon, NY, etc. eBay will allow international buyers to use these services, but they are not considered for the EIS (eBay International Shipping) program which has more protections for a seller than any domestic sale.

That depends on the efficiency of the shipping company you choose - USPS, FedEx, or UPS... If the shipper does not show tracking, it's a flip of the coin as to whether the item is lost, delayed, or is actually delivered to eIS, which takes it from there.
