International Shipping to Israel - Payment Dispute
It's Oct 1, 2025. I sold a ring for $400ish way back in Jun 2025 to an international buyer in Israel. I used eBay's International Shipping Program and promptly shipped this ring to eBay's international shipping hub in Glendale Heights, IL. Today, I received notice that the buyer opened a payment dispute because they haven't received the ring and eBay now has my funds on hold.
I called eBay this morning and it turns out that the item is still being held at the eBay shipping hub! While the agent assured me that I will be protected by eBay's Seller Protection Program, they are still going to HOLD my funds until there is an outcome of the dispute with the buyer's payment institution.
What gives? This is so unfair! If they already know that they will protect me in this case, why are they holding my funds? Ebay are the ones responsible for the item not getting to the buyer, not I. Granted, Israel is war-torn, but it seems they should be communicating regularly with the buyer about the whereabouts and shipping forecast for the item.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem with shipping to Israel (or to any other war-torn country for that matter)? I'd like to hear others' experiences in similar situations.
Ebay needs to do better.
