international shipping snafu
Can you help me with my rookie mistake?
I tried to find a more cost-efficient way to ship. Got the exact cost for shipping in the U.S., and I listed it as a flat rate for the buyer. Problem is that I didn't correctly block international buyers (mistake 1).
Now I have a low auction bid (yes, auctioning=rookie mistake 2) for ~$12 and a flat shipping rate of $6.98 with an international bid.
So...is there any way to fix this problem so I don't spend $ to send my doll (if/when the international bidder wins)?

·2 years agoBoth of your auctions show that you ship only to the US. It's possible that your international bidder is being allowed to bid because they have a shipping address in the US. You shouldn't have been able to change your listing once you had a bid so unless you were able to do so, the buyers already know that you ship only to the US.
If they win and want you to ship outside of the ship you have a couple of options. You could tell them that you won't ship outside of the US and then cancel the transaction using problem with address as the reason. Or, if you are willing to ship to their country you can figure out a correct shipping cost and send them an invoice once they win.
When your listing does not have a shipping cost for the buyer's location, they are not able to pay unless they are using a reshipper in a country that you do have a shipping for listed for.

·2 years agoIt sounds like your buyers were NOT from the US, but that they use a freight forwarder in the US, which means that their delivery address is in the US, not their home.
The seller ships to the FF and the FF then has the responsibility of delivering to the buyer. The seller's responsibility ends when there is tracking proving delivery to the FF.
