International Shipping over $2,500 USD alternatives?
I’ve got a graded trading card listed on eBay for $6,999. I got an offer of $6,900 but the buyer is in Malaysia.
Is there a reason that the eBay international shipping option is capped at $2.5k USD? The Asian market is HUGE into NBA trading cards, and in today’s market, there are hundreds of cards regularly selling for more than $2.5k heading to the far east.
is there a workaround here I’m missing? I find it hard to believe that eBay wouldn’t want the 13.25% of a $7,000 sale.

·4 months agoUmm this goes directly to the authenticator before the buyer. Once it's in their hands any insurance you place upon it is null & void as it was delivered. The flip side is, once it successfully heads out from the authenticator, its totally ebays liability moving forward. The reason insurance is capped is because you can't insure international shipments using that service. It's based on limits with carriers within the US.

The item exceeds the Internationals Shipping program limits due to the price -
The standard maximum price for items in the eBay International Shipping program is $2,500 per package, excluding taxes, duties, and shipping fees. Shipments valued at or above $2,500 require a formal customs entry process.

·4 months agoYeah, I can't imagine sending a $7K item via a shipper (not me) to a stranger in a different country on the internet. There HAS to be a reason why there are caps...

·4 months agoElectronic Export Information (EEI) is the mandatory electronic declaration of goods leaving the U.S. for foreign countries, filed through the Automated Export System (AES). It is generally required for shipments valued over $2,500.00.
While 13.25% of a $7,000 sale sounds like a nice chunk of change, to eBay it is but a drop in the bucket.

·4 months agoJust a semi-educated guess, but it's probably eIS's insurer's limit.
Would you consider sending it directly to Malaysia under your own steam and figuring out how to get signature confirmation on it?
