International Shipping FAIL
I shipped a designer bag to the domestic hub in Illinois for authentication. No issues. Was headed for Australia. Then I receive an email stating:
We wanted to let you know that unfortunately this item could not be shipped internationally. As a result, your order can’t be fulfilled. This could be due to import restrictions or eligibility requirements. You get to keep the sale and we’ve issued a refund to your buyer.
What happens to the designer bag? The price was under the max limit and I don’t believe a bag falls under any forbidden items. This seems extremely shady.

·8 months agoI assume it's this $2,000 Jimmy Choo calf leather bag:

Technically, Australia restricts import of "animal products," though whether that actually means leather accessories (as opposed to, say, sausages), I have no idea. I suppose it does.

OP8 months agoThank you, that’s super helpful. Do you know what eBay does with the item?

·8 months agoI believe they have one or two selling accounts. I've seen the seller ID(s) mentioned here from time to time but I don't know which ones they are myself.
I understand that they will reuse your photos and description when listing the item, so you might be able to spot the listing that way.

·8 months agoYou got refunded so if anything is shady, its Ebay to Ebay
(really not a brilliant remark)
Also; shipping to EIS in Illinois is NOT shipping to 'authentication' which is a completely different location.

·8 months agoThe bag is ebay's now. Think of it like insurance, when they pay you out for an item, the insurer owns the rights to that item.
The more interesting question is why the items couldn't be shipped internationally? That answer would help you avoid the same situation in the future. Do you have more info? Btw, I'm not looking up the sale

·8 months agoThe bag will be resold and that money makes up for the money refunded to the buyer.

·8 months agoThe bag will be resold to try to recoup the refund to the buyer and allowing you to keep the funds from the sale.
There is nothing shady about it.
