International Shipping cost
I found recently that the estimated shipping cost of an item (located in the US) to outside the US is not shown in the item's listing. Is this just me or is someone else having the same problem? And it seems that it is a problem with eBay, not the individual seller. I tried contacting eBay via its "Assistant" but it was not helpful. Any feedback please?

·1 month ago@lacemaker3 explained what's likely happening here very well. You might want to check the listing to see if the item ships to other international locations or not. If other international locations are listed as shipping locations, then what seems to be happening is that eBay International Shipping has been removed as a shipping option for Hong Kong for that particular listing.

That is what happens when a listing is not eligible for eBay International Shipping to your specific country (Hong Kong), but that is the only option available on the listing. This message shows up if the seller did not turn on "Block buyers whose primary shipping address is in a location to which I don’t ship" in their Buyer Management settings.
Most US sellers are not willing to ship internationally except tthrough EIS, but they forget to change this setting.

What are you seeing instead of a shipping price in the section of the listing that’s supposed to have that information?

I dont think there is room enough to put on every listing the postage for everywhere in the world from the US or any country.

OP1 month agoBut this was done before. Previously, in most listings where the seller was prepared to ship overseas, and who used the eBay International Shipping Programme, an estimate of the (international) shipping cost will be displayed. Where the buyer's location is known (and it must be known because he had to register his shipping address with eBay), the cost of shipping to that particular country will be shown in the listing for that buyer to see. So why change now?
In the case of an auction, a buyer would not want to know his shipping cost only after he has won the auction. He would understandably wish to know his (full) cost before he places a bid, in case he won and only then found out that the shipping cost is prohibitive. What you said may work for "Buy-it-now" items because a buyer can go to checkout, see the shipping cost, and not go through with the transaction. But for reasons stated above, it does not work for auction items.
