India Sellers Price gouging ?

There have been excessive price tags on Bollywood items coming from sellers in India for a good while now but even worse than that is the postage being charged. Seller *** for instance is charging US$1000.00 economy postage to mail a single movie lobby card eBay item number:365277120668 (itself overpriced at $99.99.) Tariffs are NOT included. Are Indian sellers equating the spending power of the rupee to be the same as the US dollar ? Like do they think 1000 rupees in India is the same as US$1000.00 in the USA ? Ebay needs to post a tutorial to Indian sellers about realistic prices. I have seen items posted for years and years - they're not selling but the listings remain. Is something else going on here?

Aside from what the other responders have mentioned.

Price gouging is the practice of significantly raising the price of essential goods and services during a state of emergency or disaster.

Bollywood items are not an essential goods or service nor are we in a state of emergency or disaster. So if a seller wants to charge a crazy amount for a product and shipping that is their prerogative. eBay doesnâ€™t consider it against any policy and if the item sells they get their slice of the sale.

Over the past few weeks there have been many new stories that foreign country postal services are NOT accepting ANY packages going to the US due to the uncertainty of the tariff rules.

To which many people on these boards have pointed out that foreign sellers have no way to block USA sellers so they wind up with a sale they can not process. Therefore MAJOR Metric dings. So several suggestions have been made to show an out-of-this-world shipping cost to prevent a US buyers from placing the order.

Based on your comments it seems to be working.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Many international sellers are adding these large shipping costs to their listings so that US buyers do not buy from them. They are doing this because the tariffs have some sellers nervous to sell to the US.

Or they're doing it because their local postal system is not set up for the tariffs to be paid in advance as the US is requiring.
