Confirming I'm having this same issue. Contacted eBay and they have no idea how to fix it. Made me lose a big sale.

To everyone suggesting EIS. EIS is also capped at 750 and disallowed by eBay for this sale. So no, there really is NO way to comply.

@wastingtime101 & @kyle@ebay , if eIS is capped at $750, how is @mr._bob supposed to comply with eBay policy by using eIS?

I understand that @wastingtime101 suggested checking on Pirate Ship to see if UPS Worldwide Expedited offers signature confirmation (with the warning that UPS might charge a brokerage fee to do so), but what if they don't offer the option?

The sale is made. The seller still doesn't have a clear answer.

It sounds like @mr._bob either goes off eBay and is hopefully able to find a service that complies with eBay policy (because eBay's own eIS does not allow him to use eIS in this instance in order to comply with their own policy) or cancel the sale.

Am I understanding this correctly?

@ltldpr I posted the link for the EIS policy and it say's up to $2500. Not to be confused with eBay standard International that caps at $1000.

eIS is not capped at $750 @ltldpr , it's capped at $2500. Sellers do not see eIS on the label page - they only see domestic services to Illinois. As I mentioned upthread, eIS does not apply to this current transaction - it is a suggestion for future sales and making adjustments to active listings with high value to disable direct international shipping and let eIS take over.

@mr._bob is confusing eIS (eBay International Shipping) with eISD (eBay International Standard Delivery) which is a (semi)direct international shipping option that goes to a hub, but the seller is still responsible end-to-end unlike eIS where the seller is only responsible for delivery to the hub then eBay takes over.

Yes, they do. I provided the answer multiple times yesterday. Use UPS Worldwide Expedited from pirateship.com after communicating with the buyer about sig conf, possible brokerage fees, and change of carrier. Get signature confirmation and insurance.

I guess the seller is as confused as I was, because some time after 8pm last night they posted about the $750 cap (which I now understand is incorrect).

The two similar names for international shipping on eBay helps with the confusion.

Is this eBay shipping label USPS or just USPS?

I would think the post office can do it without using a USPS eBay label.

Just a thought.

It's USPS policy. I went to multiple USPS locations, waited in line and asked if there was any way to add sig conf to international shipments and was told flat out no, USPS no longer offers ANY method of sig conf on international.

Hi @mr._bob . Go to pirateship.com and see if you can get sig conf on UPS Worldwide Expedited. I can't recall if it's an option, but I've used the service to Australia a bunch of times so that's the first place I'd check.

Be aware though - sometimes it can result in UPS charging broker fees on delivery so give the buyer a heads up before you ship with a different service.

As others suggested, offering USPS direct shipping on pricey items is not an ideal option. Either choose a service that allows sig conf, or don't offer a direct service and instead default to eBay International Shipping.

The general solution to the unavailability of signatures or tracking on USPS shipments to some countries is EIS.

There have always been countries which do not have one or both, and sellers had to ship at their own risk.

Yeah... Gotta say it's the best idea.

After @wastingtime101 explained it to me and I read up on it, it's definitely the way I'm going. I routinely sell items,, well LIST,, items (lol) at that price range so it seems like the very best protection.

That said; I have looked everywhere and this seems to be an issue with USPS. Some recommend using FedEx or UPS but this question has been asked numerous times and I've yet to see a proper answer.

Let's see if we can get an eBay employee to inform us of how to handle it.

Just to be clear @pikabo-icu : advice to use eIS (plus the rest) is for preventing issues on future transactions and making adjustments to active listings.

It's of zero help on an existing transaction.

This sale already happened so now the seller needs to work out shipping. That's where my above advice comes in:

Go to pirateship.com and see if you can get sig conf on UPS Worldwide Expedited. I can't recall if it's an option, but I've used the service to Australia a bunch of times so that's the first place I'd check.

Be aware though - sometimes UPS (and other carriers) charges broker fees on delivery so give the buyer a heads up before you ship with a different carrier.

As I mentioned, the label shipment page also clearly says that EIS is not available as the value is too high. This appears also to be capped at $750.

I have used EIS almost exclusively for international since it was made available, and was actually surprised it was not available for this sale, and the page specifically said "Not available as value is too high".

Are you choosing the correct service?

On this link it's say's up to $2500. Not to be confused with eBay standard International that caps at $1000.

Is it a category issue? Or your sale is over $2500 ?

There's a lot more info on the link such as exclusions on some categories/items but this is the basics:

The following requirements apply to items shipped through eBay International Shipping:

Items are physically located in the US and listed on eBay.com
Items are eligible for export
The cost of the order doesn't exceed $2500 USD, including shipping
Packages should not exceed:
- 48 inches in length, 84 inches in length and girth
- 44 lbs. in billable weight (not actual weight) for all countries except Canada (maximum billable weight for Canada is 66 lbs.)

No clue why it doesn't allow up to 2500. This was under 2500. But EIS was greyed out and said (paraphrasing) "EIS is not available as the Value is too high"

It was under Collectibles, but not knives.

There's no reason per their policy EIS was not available. They just didn't allow it and it said "Value too high".
