I was only reimbursed for the cost of a fake item but not for return fee
I purchased a fake jacket on eBay fraudulently posted as authentic ($207.54).
Directed by eBay agents, who were fully aware of the estimated fee, ($210.63), to mail it back to China, with the promise I would be reimbursed for both if seller did not reimburse. Now eBay refuses to reimburse mailing fee.

·1 year agoA Chinese seller can't send a prepaid label to you so how it should have been done was for you to find out how much it would cost to send back, let the seller know and he's supposed to send you the money BEFORE you ship it back. And if that didn't happen, you'd go back to the claim and have ebay step in.
Never trust a seller to reimburse you after the fact.

Your post is a little confusing and could use some clarification.
Did you open a return request on eBay and if so, which did you choose?
Did you ship the item back without opening a return request or did you use a remorse reason for the return?
Were you refunded by the seller once they received the item, minus the cost you shipped it back or did eBay refund you directly. (not the seller)

·1 year agoSeller was suppose to pay return shipping before, not after being returned.
If you paid to return it, not much you can do now.
If you don't want to receive fake items in the future, don't buy from sellers in China.

However, I was misled not only by the fraudulent seller, but also by eBay agents.

IF the seller didnt supply a shipping label and didnt send you the money to buy one, you should have asked eBay to step in.
eBay would have refunded you without having you return the item.
IF you were given this direction from a CS agent you may want to try FB eBay page and private message them.
eBay doesnt usually refund for this because it was not necessary for you to do this if you had used the MBG correctly. But its worth a try.

OP1 year ago2 different agents who were aware of the cost instructed me to mail it back to China, assuring me that I would be reimbursed for the cost of the item, plus mailing fee. I was very apprehensive about the enormous mailing fee. I can’t recall the woman’s name, but the last agent was Andrew in Austin, Texas. Who knows if they actually offer up their real name?

OP1 year agoNo shipping label offered by seller, just a long address in China, with the “promise†to reimburse mailing fee on PayPal.
After standing lines (2days before Christmas), USPS refused to accept due long address/ customs, and UPS gave me an estimate of $230.00. I sent a picture to eBay & agents recommended I mail and would be reimbursed.
Big mistake indeed!
