I thought we had seller protection due to weather
I'm so annoyed...I never ship late, I ship same or next day...on Dec 27th I sold a ring and shipped it the next day, but the post office didn't scan it until January 1st, which is strange because that was a holiday....what gets me it shows post office said package was late, It was late because they didn't scan it, and now I have a ding which was denied when I asked for it to be taken off my late transactions because it wasn't late...so frustrating that a robot makes these decisions and not a human.

·9 months agoSomewhat of a Weather Protection comes in after the package has been scanned in, as in package gets hung up in Chicago or somewhere because of 4-5-6 foot of Snow or something.
YOU not ensuring your package was scanned in a timely manner, as in standing there in line making sure it gets scanned in, watching your Mail Man scan it in in front of you, so on, is on YOU. Not the Post Office. Not the Weather.

·9 months agoHad a similar experience with a post office near me that I don't normally drop packages at. Luckily, it's very easy to remove these defects. You just have to make sure to choose "something outside of my control" as the reason. This basically covers everything from bad weather to USPS ineptitude. Please note that if you select "I shipped on time and the tracking shows" you will lose the appeal every single time.

·9 months agoA in NY seller I bought a item from ,dropped a package at the PO he use's on 12 /22 . The USPS told the both Us on 12/29 they consider lost . so seller refunded me then filed the insurance claim. well on Jan. 8 2026 a acceptance scan was done 3:00 am . It will be delivered on 1/14 . I don't by holiday mail issue has caused the delay's on acceptance scans on every one here . because this isn't the first time I seen this happen . it did start until the Orange Blob 45/47 put Dejoys in charge of USPS in 2020 until early 2025 . There is new 2026 policy done on Parcels get no scans on drop off ,so we will see more delays . My seller will not be out any money .

·9 months agoI'm failing to see the weather connection.
If you shipped it the 28th, then the weather didn't shut down your PO's operations that day. Lack of a scan due to holiday volume happens all the time. Either make arrangements to get a scan when you drop it off, or accept it may be considered late if PO doesn't scan until it gets to the local sort facility.
I'll never understand why sellers get so upset about a single late shipping mark. eBay grants a 3% allowance of late shipments and remaining Top Rated. You don't need to have a 100% on time performance rating.

·9 months agoIf you did not stand on line at the PO and get a scan or your postman scans when he picks up, it is likely to be a day or two after you have mailed the item before you get your first scan.
Some sellers, myself included, make sure that we have a long enough handling time to avoid negative impact of this months old USPS policy change.
It is not bot related. Ebay has only two choices, to believe you shipped when you buy the label, or wait for a scan. A majority of Ebay sellers do not ship immediately after printing the label, so that choice would not be realistic.

·9 months agoWhat does the PO not scanning the package have to do with the weather?
Why didn't you have it scanned when you dropped it off?
