I posted a media item with incorrect weight & dimensions.
The item I posted actually weighs 4 lbs 2 oz with dimensions 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 2 inches.
The listing (copied in part) has 5oz with dimensions 7 x 4 x 4 inches.
The auction has bids.
The calculated buyer shipping cost to pay is $4.47.
May I still use the E-bay label purchase facility with the proper weight and dimensions and pay the difference at label purchase time?
If not, I will go to PO and purchase shipping at the counter. What will happen to the buyers $4.47?

·6 months agoWhen you purchase the shipping label @cowoodchuck tap the edit link next to weight/dimensions. Enter accurate weight and dimensions before buying the label.
You will have to cover the cost difference for undercharging ship cost; you can't ask the buyer for more shipping money after the sale.

·6 months agoIn this case the actual shipping cost will be $7.47 Media Mail so roughly a $3 loss, however you may find more competitive rates with Ground Advantage (quicker than MM and insured) because of the size/weight - depends on the address of the buyer. Check the rates before buying the label. You can switch service as long as you use the same carrier (USPS) and the service is an upgrade, not a downgrade.
Also make sure the weight and dimensions are of the packaged item, not the product before packing. Can cause a big difference in rates.
More tips:
eBay charges fees on the total amount buyer pays (item+ship+tax). You need to factor those fees in to your item price or use calculated shipping with an added handling cost to cover the fees on shipping - otherwise you are losing money on every package shipped.
Auction format is rarely a good idea for items with a fixed value. Research the price of sold listings and list in fixed price format.
As a new seller, eBay will hold your funds - don't expect an immediate payout.
