I have a potential buyer in Oman asking if I ship there & if its FREE
So I see I am enrolled in international shipping and I think I have sold a few items that went international. I have sent the ITEMS to a same place in Illinois. I think from there Ebay takes over the cost of the international part. This DUDE keeps saying its FREE all the way to OMAN. I said Its only FREE on my end to HUB & he will pay whatever the rest of the way but I have no clue what to tell him what the shipping costs are along with taxes. Am I correct or how can I point him in the direction so he will get his answer?

·8 months agoI think the buyer might do 'freight forward' and not direct to Oman.
Most items are usually shipped by freight forward to the Middle East.
Maybe from a Delaware address which is free shipping freight forward and then on to Oman.
This is where the buyer mentions free shipping.
Buyer pays for a freight forward hub...not you.
Not sure what the item is...Oman is rather picky about what enters the country.
I would ask what is the mailing address before I say no like all the others here.
If buyer gives a USA address I would ship it.
It would be a good sale.
I shipped many times freight forward and never had a problem.
I hate to disrespect all these great people responding to the OP but I think they may be wrong.

That's why the buyer is asking. It's blocked from eIS because of the weapons policy. When international buyers view that listing they will not see a shipping option to their location and if they want the item they will often reach out to the seller and ask if shipping is possible.
Generally I'd just tell the buyer the item is blocked because of international shipping regulations and eBay policy.
In this case, due to the nature of the item combined with their request for free international shipping, I'd go as far as adding to the BBL to hopefully avoid the buyer trying to use a US-based freight forwarder and causing problems later.

·8 months agoThat will probably not be allowed in Oman including freight forward.

Thanks for your interest. All of my international shipments are handled by eBay. I don't have any control over the rates eBay charges, or your country's import duties and taxes. Please refer to the listing's shipping section and view the details there for eBay's rates and information about shipping to your country.
If you want you can send them a screenshot. For example, when I go to your Dionne Warwick listing and click see details next to shipping and change country to Oman I see this:
If you do that, don't forget to change your location back to the US before you close out the shipping pop up @sell-more .

·8 months agoIf you're on a desktop or laptop computer, you can find out how much eIS is charging for shipping to Oman by going to the listing page and changing the shipping location to Oman. (Click the "see details" link in the shipping section.) You might even want to send a screenshot of that to the prospective buyer if that's still possible.

Your "buyer" is attempting to con you big-time -- while the seller ships at United States domestic rates to the eBay International Shipping Hub in Illinois, the international buyer is responsible for all shipping, customs and other charges to the buyer's country, as charged by EIS.
If your "buyer" stays argumentative, just end the chat, and add the "buyer" to your BBL.

OP8 months agoI did finally block him. Its been a bad ebay day another jerk left a neg. After seeing the an LP i sold he said the record is not the original one for cover. a nice NEG on a $15 buck sale that included ship cost.
wastingtime101
·8 months agoYou can try to get the neg removed based on the feedback policy of buyer upset about something disclosed in the listing. Your listing showed a photo of the record outside of its sleeve so the buyer could see exactly what they were getting.
But you might be denied because the buyer also mentioned not liking how it was packed for shipping. And there's also that new policy where eBay gives buyers a chance to revise the portion of their FB that violates policy if the rest of their FB doesn't. I haven't seen that in practice yet. Yours might be a good use case to test.
I'd be interested if you go through the help page to request feedback removal (quote the policy about how it was disclosed in the listing), and come back to let us know what happens @sell-more .

·8 months agoThe buyer knows the cost of shipping to Oman if you are participating in EIS, you do not. The cost is displayed on the listing, if he is logged into his account with an Omani address. if he is logged in to an account with a US address, he will be as ignorant as you are.
He is a pita and should be on your BBL.

OP8 months agoGee thanks but I am not a buyer of anything international so I don't know how it looks on that end but again thanks for the insult.

·8 months ago@sell-more the word @tobaccocardyahoo used 'ignorant' is NOT a derogatory remark. It only means 'not knowing'.

OP8 months agoIt is kind of the reason I am here asking here is to give the buyer help.. They could research like myself. I dunno but your logic and mine don't agree. Its kind of why I tend to stay away from these boards.

PS: You appear to be referring to the word "ignorant" which was not meant as an insult in this case.
