I don't understand how Ebay is doing shipping.

I don't understand how Ebay handles shipping. Do they keep what you charge the customer then subtact what they charge for the shipping label, keeping the rest in some sort of 'fund'.  I keep getting screwed on Ebay shipping.  What are these funds' you have? What is going on?

There is nothing to understand because ebay does NOT do any shipping, any 'charging' for shipping etc.

YOU do. YOU decide how you much you want buyers to pay for shipping (yes, you can use the ebay 'calculator' but YOU have to be sure that you are inputting the correct weight/dimensions and then decide if you want to 'pass on' the 'savings' of 'retail vs what ebay lets you pay for a shipping label' and/or if you want to ADD a 'handling charge' (since ebay charges YOU their Fee on the shipping amount charged)...or,

you simply choose an 'amount' (called 'Flat Rate Shipping') or....

you simply choose 'Free Shipping' (which means it's free for the customer because you are paying 100% of the amount of shipping).

    Look at this screenshot.

    1. Amount the buyer PAID me for shipping (calculated shipping + a small handling charge). These funds are combined with the item price and sales tax (if applicable) to get the Total Sale.

    2. Amount I paid USPS for postage for shipping the item. It is deducted from the Total Sale (which included the buyers payment for postage).

Yes, I get to 'keep' the difference between the two.

No eBay does not keep the difference between what the buyer paid and the discounted shipping cost, that is yours.

With out an example we would have no way to tell you if you are getting screwed or not. You do understand the cost of shipping is included in the fees you pay?

"What are these funds' you have? What is going on?"

    Do you mean pending funds?

Thanks, I didn't see they were shipping flat rate.

Looks like you're charging the buyer a flat rate on the shipping.

If you're loosing money on the shipping, you need to use calculated shipping and enter the packaged weight and dimensions in the the listing.

    Their profile isn't available.

You keep getting screwed on shipping because you aren't charging your buyers enough and or your dimensions and weight are wrong.
eBay doesn't handle shipping. They offer shipping from various services. When you buy a shipping label on eBay the cost of that label goes to USPS, Fedex or UPS. The only part eBay gets is the fvf plus the transaction fee from the total your buyer pays.

You've had over two hundred sales and dont understand shipping? The buyer pays you the shipping fee, you then pay for the label with it.There is no 'fund', not sure what you are talking about.
