I can't contact the buyer
I made a sale and the tracking shows that the package has already arrived at its destination, but the buyer was not at home. They need to contact USPS to schedule a new delivery date. However, they have not done so, and I’ve tried reaching out through eBay direct messages but haven’t received any response.
If the buyer doesn’t contact the post office soon, the package will be returned to the sender.
What should be done in this case?

·1 year agoUSPS will either try to redeliver or they will leave a notice that the recipient must pick it up at their local Post Office. USPS will hold the package for 14 (15?) days.
When was the first failed delivery attempt? Is this a Signature Required situation?

·1 year agoIt is up to the buyer to have a secure place for delivery.
If the buyer does not pick up the shipment, it eventually comes back to the seller.
BUT
EBay does not require the seller to refund a single shiny red penny for Undeliverable items.
Not a cent.
Not your responsibility.
Most sellers will on the return of the shipment, refund the selling price (not tax, not fees, not shipping cost) to the buyer because that is the ethical thing to do.
But eBay does not require this.

The tracking will show attempted delivery. You did your part. USPS will attempt to deliver again.

·1 year agoThis is my standard advice for RTS (returned to sender) packages. Take the parts that are relevant to your situation.
You have a few options. You should decide which route you'll be taking and communicate with the buyer, but wait until the item is returned (and delivered) to you before you take any of the following actions.
