I am being charge additional freight from ebay
I sold a picture on Ebay for 225. It was a hand painted Nickelodeon cell of the rug rats. Low number. I asked 250 I took 225. The picture was 16 x 20". I had to buy special packing to ship which cost me 28.00 at the UPS store. I took it to the post office with the shipping label that I purchased for 14.00 from Ebay. It says buyer is paying shipping. I got paid $196. from ebay so that is 29.00 difference. I am now being charge an additional 49.00 from ebay for shipping. This now brings my total down to 225 - 28.- 29 - 49 = 119.00 which I got for my picture. I am disputing the 49 dollars additional fee's that ebay is trying to get from me. Do you think this right or should I just suck it up and pay the fee.

·4 months agoTo know exactly what happened, we would need to know the size and weight you listed the item with, the size and weight you entered when you purchased the label, and the size and weight UPS says the package was. I always say, when selling on-line you are in the shipping business, you cant guess, you need to be as proficient as you can at shipping and how the carriers operate.
Even if you just "suck it up and pay", you want to learn and know exactly why this additional charge happened, otherwise you'll just keep repeating it and paying it

·4 months agoI think the problem arose when you listed this item. You must include exact measurements of item after it is "boxed up".
Clearly, you did not know this because you mentioned having UPS package and box after your item sold. This would account increase your weight & measurements.

·4 months agoYou should have had UPS ship it as well, not send it through the post office. It is over a cubic foot and UPS would probably have been cheaper. Packages over a cubic foot are slammed with a "dimensional rate", which can be dramatically more expensive than you anticipated if you didn't enter the dimensions when listing (to charge the buyer) and what you paid if you didn't enter accurate measurements when buying the shipping label.
If you are sure you did enter the correct dimensions (round up, never down), and USPS charged you more, fight it! They can review the package going through the system to see if it is a mistake on their part. Packages can get stuck together etc. If you are sure your dimensions were right when you bought the label and you paid the correct amount, challenge the adjustment.
The UPS store would have given you a receipt with dimensions and weight when you had them pack your item for you. If you sent it UPS and UPS made a mistake, you'd have proof your measurements were accurate.

·4 months agoWell Ebay isn't charging you the additional fees it's the carrier. When you purchased the label you typed in the dimensions and weight. Well the carrier is telling Ebay that's not correct so there is an additional fee. Yes you can appeal it which you are. There really isn't much else you can do other than pay the $49 if you lose the appeal. What I would've done was sell this item local.

·4 months agoIt's UPS that's charging the extra shipping - eBay is only the portal. They should tell you why, though. Every time I've been upcharged for shipping the shipping company has an explanation (larger package, incorrect weight, etc.).
