Huge fedex overcharge
for the second time in recent months, I have been charged a significant fee by FedEx on an item I shipped. This particular time, I had a package that weighed 2 pounds and I was just charged $14 extra because eBay wrote that FedEx said it was 14 pounds. Since this happened to me before, this time I took a photograph of the package on the scale showing that it was 2 pounds, so I wanted to dispute this ridiculous charge. I assume that I have to deal with FedEx customer service. Has anybody else encountered this?

·8 months agoIm not sure your photo of a package on a scale will prove that.
So many sellers report extra charges from FedEx and UPS that many stop using them.
FedEx has eBay as the customer so these extra fees have to be disputed through eBay and not directly with FedEx.

·8 months agoMore than likely, there is nothing to dispute - FedEx uses dimensional weight (DIM weight) to calculate shipping charges. This means you’re billed based on either the package’s actual weight or the space it takes up (volume), whichever is greater.
Example
Box size: 20 × 15 × 10 inches
Volume = 3,000 cubic inches
DIM weight = 3,000 ÷ 139 ≈ 22 lbs
Actual weight = 10 lbs
Charged weight = 22 lbs (since DIM > actual).
