How to get GSP back, to replace Ebay International Shipping
Hi, ebay automatically replaced GSP with Ebay International Shippinh for all my items and as a result majority of my existing listings no longer offer international shipping. I think part of the reason is EIS has a $500 limit while GSP is $2500, and many of my listings are in the $1000 range. In addition even the sub $500 listings do not offer international shipping (which remains a mystery). I have tried changing various options on shipping options of the listing without luck, when editing the listing it clearly listed "ebay international shipping" as the selected option.
This is beyond frustrating. My question is how do I get GSP back and remove EIS? Thank you

·3 years agoThe problem is likely related to your package size. All of our products dropped international sales eligibility with EIS. After numerous complaints, eBay told us they now recognize the impact and are negotiating with the EIS provider.

OP3 years agoFurther experimentation indicate category(as long as it's not restricted categories) doesnt matter but the TEXT LENGTH and certain words of the title. If I keep the title below certain length (usually 6 or so words only) and exclude the "bad" words, all countries show up. Once the title length exceeds 6+ words length, all countries disappear only US is visible.
Also dont forget you need to "reset" first by reduce the title to only 1 or 2 words, to get the countries to show up, before adding the rest words back, once it limits to US only. Simply by reducing the title from say 10 to 6 words will not work, once it's US only, need to reset, then you can add the same 6 words back, and it will still show ship to all countries.
I will stop now, this is becoming an obsession lol

OP3 years agoHi guys, just to wrap this up. I have done many experiments today and can confirm EIS is completely screwed up and bugged, no idea how ebay releases such a critical function to production in this state.
Below are the experiments I have done (wrote down the steps), starting point is an item that has EIS turned on but shows only ship to US
Changing to a different category -> didnt work -> reduce the price from $1300 to $50 -> worked all countries showed up -> increase the price to $400 -> reduced to only US and Canada -> increase the price to $700 -> reduced to US only -> Remove description to only 1 word -> still US only -> remove the title to only 2 words -> a dozen european countries + canada showed up -> Adding 1 word at a time -> still shows the same dozen countries -> until I add the word "custom" or "spider" or "studio" -> becomes US only -> remove those words from title -> still US only -> remove all words from the title back to the initial 2 words -> dozen countries show up again -> add all the other words back but exclude the "bad words" -> still shows dozen country -> add the original full description back -> shows US only again -> remove the title down to 2 words again -> dozen countries show up now (with full description still there) -> restore the title again (without bad words) -> dozen country still here -> change price to original $1300 -> US only again -> repeat process of reducing title to 2 words, countries show up, then restore title -> same issue again after adding photos -> repeat the title fix again. etc..
Best offer also caused the countries to switch back to US only.
There is no logic, reason, or explanation, just pure random bugs with EIS. After spending 1 hr i managed to get 1 listing to work shipping to other countries after around 100 trial and errors.
20 years as a development manager working at sp100 tech/finance firms, i have never seen code as screwed up as this at an enterprise level. My whole team include myself will get fired on the spot if we released anything remotely like this into production.

·3 years agoFor what it's worth, @toystatue, I just checked the listing for your Spider-Man figurine and it shows shipping to about thirty countries, including the United States. Interestingly enough, it also states that taxes and duties will be charged at checkout, possibly due to the value of the item, I'm guessing.
Your Terran Marine action figure shows a realistic shipping price of less than US$15 to Canada and has shows a much broader list of "ships to" locations.

i tried copying some of your listing verbatim and it shows international (while your listijg didn’t)

·3 years agoHi thanks for trying. I got EIS re-enabled now and tried everything - turn on / off best offer, add/remove all the optional search attributes like brand / size etc.. none of it helps. Dang listings just lock ship to US only.
For example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256003969036 a very simple $50 item, absolutely nothing special, but it just refuse to allow me to ship to any other countries 😞
Did you say when you tried, you are able to ship to other countries?

i know for example this category wasn’t working for some of my items,
and i had to change them to simply shoes for international.

·3 years agoCan you give examples of which listings? I have sunglasses listed and some are $1999.99 nearly 2,000 and they offer international via the new Ebay system.
However, its loaded with bugs:
EXAMPLE: Any item in the sunglass category listed over $999.99 and has BEST OFFER ON will not offer international. If I make it just a Buy it Now with best offer off it enables it.
my first question would be what happens if you disable best offer?

·3 years agoIf all you want from International shipping is tracking and Proof of Delivery, the USPS First Class International Package service includes tracking at least to Canada.
I don't know much more about it than that-- and of course,rates.

·3 years agoIf you have a 2nd account that is not opted in to EIS yet, you can use GSP. It's not the most convenient but it's an option.
As far as I understand it, the EIS limit has been increased. I have an item up for $750 usd and I can view and buy it on other Ebay sites, such as UK, DE, etc.
Initially, I had to end and re-list my items as sell similar to get the EIS to apply.

OP3 years agoYes mine looks exactly like yours, i even created a new listing just in case they had some issue migrating the existing listing from gsp to ebay international shipping. And still no luck. With GSP i had no issues at all.
I am going to opt out of EIS, then opt back in, to try "reset" it. See if it works. This is so frustrating, all ebay has to do is display a reason why the listing isnt eligible for shipping to other countries.

·3 years ago@toystatue Yes, I'd give that a try. And maybe wait a bit...maybe it takes a while for ebay's servers to catch up with the change? (Unless it's already been a long while, then forget that thought....)
I take it you are not getting any message saying the listing is ineligible? I can clearly see , when I go to your shipping section, that some countries are excluded, but the ones that should be included are not shown at all....this could be a glitch, or there's some reason for ineligibility, but I'm inclined to think glitch....

OP3 years agoYes thanks, i saw ebay confirm in one of the old "community chat" that the limit is increased to $2500. Then i dont really know what the issue is, none of my listing (toy statues) are in the restricted categories or above their shipping dimension limit.
The listing itself has ebay international shipping listed and activated. Yet when you view the actual listing it only ships to US. International buyers confirmed they cannot checkout

·3 years agoSomething is really wrong with EIS. I was switched about a month ago and have only received international orders from CANADA.....nowhere else. Prior to the switch I had 3-4 orders a week through GSP. There is no way that international buyers are seeing items or the shipping cost has skyrocketed....that is the only reasonable explanations.

OP3 years agoThis you can easily verify, by going to the actual listing, shipping tab, and see the countries in the dropdown. it will ship to all those countries in the dropdown.
You can further verify, by going to a specific country ebay website (ie https://www.ebay.fr ) and search for your listing see if it appears.
Usually if you have a list of countries in the shipping dropdown, your listing is visible and available for purchase in those countries.
My issue is the dropdown only shows US, clearly something is blocking all international shipping for my listings 😞

·3 years agoHi, @pcobra93. I'm a Canadian eBay user, and I'm leaning toward the shipping cost hypothesis. Your LAMBDA power supply that has a domestic shipping rate of US$28 has a shipping rate to Canada of almost US$120 and a shipping rate to Australia of over US$250.
What I think is the issue here--and it was true of the GSP as well--is that you're using flat-rate shipping domestically and the bot calculating the shipping for EIS has no shipping dimensions and weight to work with. With the GSP, my understanding is that the bot would apply a category average to the shipping rate in a case like this. EIS, on the other hand, seems to be basing the calculation on a worst case scenario.
Check out your listing pages, change the shipping location and have a look-see for yourself at the shipping rates if you have a moment.

·3 years agoI do have flat rate shipping but I also have the weight and dimensions included so they can see it. I have done nothing different from what I was doing with the GSP and selling every day. I think the Lambda device is not a good one to compare as it is heavy and would always have been very expensive to ship....and Australia is one of the most expensive places on Earth to ship to. I really do think there are issues with getting the EIS up and running.

By the way, I'm wondering if putting weight and dimensions in the Item Specifics section might help with the EIS shipping calculations.

·3 years agoNot sure what you mean. It would tell the buyer the weight and dimensions but the EIS is not going to base the shipping cost on the item specifics, only the information in the shipping field.

·3 years agoHow do we know for sure, though? My recollection of the GSP is that it claimed to use information from Item Specifics, but I suppose that could be by the workers in Erlanger rather than as part of a computer routine.

·3 years ago@toystatue I don't think you can get GSP back, it is basically being retired. I also believe ebay quietly increased the $500 EIS limit to $2,500 for most countries and most eligible items, so I don't think that's the problem.
