Without question, when shipping to a freight forwarder, you need signature confirmation and full insurance.
Delivered scans to **bleep** in Miami/Doral are missed most of the time. If it isn't scanned delivered, the insurance should apply if there is a claim of not received, and Signature Confirmation meets the Ebay requirement and adds to the likelihood that the shipment will be marked delivered.
Hopefully it is going to an eis hub in Florida. Does anyone know if there's an eis hub in FL? I have never shipped there.
If is shipping thru a forwarder, as mentioned above, a signature requirement helps.
BUT sometimes they are literally signed as "signature".
Finally, I am still a bit confused b/c if this was an auction and an intl customer won in Italy the OP shouldn't have needed a shipping cost as eBay would have provided that shipping cost up front on the listing and the buyers invoice.
Well, I guess most of us are still confused by the shipping issue; however, OP states he has been paid and is ready to ship to wherever. Left's hope, for his sake, that this goes well without a snag.
Also, have to admit that I don't know much about modern music, but has anyone else ever heard of the group this record is from?

@soh.maryl
Well, I have decided that it is a buyer in Italy who chose to use Freight Forwarding and entered that address on the Order. The buyer selected USPS Priority to the FF. (Earlier, the OP states, "The payment came thru and shipping address is a hub in Florida.") FWIW, @95.9theoctopus, when I sold those (motivated buyers) were the easiest sales from start to finish. 🤑
And, no... I had never heard of this 1960s Garage Rock Band. The listing had some good-looking bidders! Wowzer! 😃
I have a question...is the item sold? If so, why are you now asking what to charge for shipping? The shipping charges we set once you listed the item and it was sold. You cant add on, and all insurance and confirmation add ons come from you, those are costs you cant pass on to the buyer at this point
@95.9theoctopus So apparently your buyer ordered it and used a Freight Forwarder. I would sure add extra insurance. Now is not the time to pinch pennies. The extra insurance won't be as bad as you fear. Definitely get signature confirmation.
It is considered a domestic shipment, not an international shipment. Make sure you add signature confirmation as required for anything over $750. I'd fully insure it...I'm mean i'm not, but if I were you I would
I ask because it is safer to have ebay ship it than you ship it.
I personally wouldn't ship this expensive of an item directly to Italy.
While everyone complains about the USA post office all the time, Italy's is one of the worst.
I would be afraid of a worst case scenario occurring and losing my money.
If you are enrolled in EIS you just ship the item to a USA hub and they take it from there. No customs forms, no declarations for you to fill out - easy peasy.
Edit to add: don't forget about what customs can do to a fragile item as well.
I honestly did not want to confuse the issue any further b/c I am still not positive it is an eis shipment shipping thru eBay or an order shipping through a freight forwarded to the customer in Italy.
I'm unaware of eis hub in Florida, but, I am in Illinois and close to an eis hub. My items wouldn't ship to Florida.
I also did not see a sale for the OP for an expensive item.
While most freight forwarded items are fine, high value items are easy targets for theft. A particular forwarder in Doral share a zip code with another city and notorious for item not arrived cases filed by buyers from their international country.
Good advice ^^^ on the signature upon delivery. I assumed you knew that eBay required that for $750(+) Transactions... 'assuming' is always my bad. 😉

·10 months agoSo, the 'freight forward' item is going to Florida and then onto Italy?
I hope I am reading it right.
The tracking is good for address in Florida only...and hopefully you get a scan as 'delivered'.
The item goes on to buyer in Italy..which could take a few weeks more.
Italy mail delivery is not the best in the world...so anything can happen.
I would check buyer's feedbacks as far as what they have purchased in the past.
Make sure your buyer has feedbacks and such.
Extra insurance to Florida with a 'written signature' for acceptance rather than a 'digital signature' is best...if you can get that.
Good luck.

·10 months ago@95.9theoctopus
Is the address to Ebay or to a freight forwarder? Is the address in Doral possibly ( a freight forwarder?).
The only hubs that I know of are in Illinois, though perhaps there are others.
If you are possibly shipping to a freight forwarder it may be a problem.
soh.maryl
·10 months agoI respect your replies as an experienced eBayer. But what problem do you foresee with shipping to a freight forwarder?
Am sure you know this, but maybe the OP doesn't. Once the item is tracked as arriving to the FF, the seller's responsibility basically ends.

If that's the case, just use the Priority you had in the listing and send it to the Freight Forwarder. Congrats on that sale!

OR
are you sending to the buyers address which is a freight forwarder in Florida?
mtgraves7984
·10 months ago@95.9theoctopus
Dang. I would. It's only going to protect you from CA to the FF, but I'd pay for that protection. My opinion only... your choice.
ETA: Of course, you probably know to absorb the insurance cost and not charge the buyer. Your money well spent, though!
