According to Fedex my package was 2 ounces over weight. My adjustment charge was Massive.
How are they getting away with this ?

·8 months agoReal question is: Why would any seller use FedEx when every 5th post here is about how bad FedEx is...

I swear every FedEx facility must be equipped with a mud puddle they drop your packages in before loading them on the truck...

·8 months agoI feel like that's like saying why would anyone use eBay with how many negative posts about eBay that are created every day.
The reality is many have found success with Fedex.

·8 months agoThe only reason to use FEDEX Ground is price. The quality of service is inferior, the packages often arrive filthy, delivered scans occur days before delivery etc. etc.
When you sell based on price, you get strong negative pressure on profits. Strict enforcement of weights and sizes is absolutely essential, and sellers who use FEDEX need to recognize that FEDEX's survival might be based on the money from these charges/adjustments.
I am not a fan of today's FEDEX but I will not cheer on the sellers who want to dump on them for protecting their profit. In a choice between an Ebay seller who chooses to ship by FEDEX and FEDEX, I choose to believe FEDEX is correct.

·8 months agoYou cannot go by the "reason" FedEx gives you for the upcharge.
I've been upcharged so many times, I don't even look anymore.
My weight might be 12lbs and I'll get an upcharge like the OP with reported weight of 10.8 lbs.
And no other reason given.

·8 months agoI occasionally use Fedex for large heavy packages with a preprinted label. I have them weigh the package and handwrite the weight on my receipt with the clerks initials. Unlike UPS and USPs, Fedex does not include the weight on the "received" receipt which seems a bit shady to me. I ask every time if they can input the weight on my receipt ...."oh we don't do that". So far, no problems with after charges......

·8 months agoAll scales are not created equal, Keeping a scale calibrated properly is a key element, Also I usually round up as long as it doesn't cost anymore, & it usually doesn't. Just a couple things to keep in mind.

·8 months agoYou do realize it is possible your scale is not properly calibrated, don't you? Give it a cleaning. Make sure it is level.
USPS has a small tolerance, so if you are off by a fraction of an ounce, you should not get dinged. A lot of clerks won't say anything if you are off by a pound and/or a cubic inch. If they get auto scanned along the way though, the tolerance won't be as generous.
FedEx and UPS do not have a tolerance, so it is generally best to round up an extra pound, and add on an extra inch to each side.

OP8 months agoYou know i once sent a 40lb Dehumidifier to Puerto Rico at a 20 lbs rate at USPS because I couldn't justify the shipping rate. The 40lb rate was almost the cost of the Dehumidifier. The 20lb rate was like 15% of that which i could live with.
USPS Delivered and never charged me.
I only tried this Cheat once and after that I was so scared I stopped selling anything outside of the 48.

OP8 months agoYeah but Fedex advertises some good 2 day air rates which is why I like them. lol

OP8 months agoI'm betting their scale has some trash on it.
This is the most Ticky Tack of All Ticky Tack charges that have ever been Ticky Tacked.

·8 months agoSimple if the weight is 9.20 lbs you must type in 10 lbs which it clearly states for you to do when purchasing the label. Yes there would be a cost adjustment for that.

OP8 months agoBut the weight on my scale showed 8 lbs 14 ounces.
bonanza125
·8 months agoUnfortunately FedEx is reporting that the package is 9.2 lbs not 8 lbs 14 ounces which is why I use USPS for packages. I never have this issue.

·8 months agoEither your scale is off or they weighed it wrong. Years ago USPS charged me an extra $30 dollars saying I didn't measure the box correctly. The correct measurements according to USPS were for a ridiculously sized box I wouldn't have needed for the item I shipped. I tried to appeal it but received a letter saying they wouldn't reverse the charge.
