Heads Up, now 15 oz and 1 lb will be priced differently
In the past on purchasing labels from ebay I would put 1 lb if it was over 12 oz. That is not a good idea with the recent price changes. Here is the difference on one item between putting 15 oz and putting 1 lb. Just though I would give everyone a heads up.

·2 years agoPutting 15 is fine for anything less than 15.999.
I have always put 15 just incase changes do happen because technically 1 lb is in a separate bracket.
There should be no adjustments for anything that's between 15-15.999 because it's the same rate. No price difference.
Adjustments happen when the recorded weight is in a different weight tier.

·2 years agoThat's very strange, because I literally just printed out a 16 oz GA label less than 20 minutes ago and was charged $6.79 for it.

OP2 years agoMaybe they live close to you? I just got a purchase from someone who lives in my own city. Because they live so close both prices for 15oz and 1lb are under $6 but they are still different:

·2 years agoIt has nothing to do with the recent changes. It has been that way since first class went to 15.999.
Actually the mistake was in putting in one pound. If you had put in 16 ounces then it would have been calculated at 15.999 ounces and it would have been cheaper. (Yes, I know 16 ounces is equal to one pound but to a computer 16 ounces is 15.999). This is a carry over from when first class went to 15.999. So, yes, on eBay where fractional ounces are not permitted 15 ounces would be the better insertion. Been that way for years.

·2 years agoI saw that this morning, I tried to put in 16 oz and page reload then put it at 1 pound. It was not a small amount, the shipping price jumped $1.15. So is it a glitch or was it a glitch prior and they just caught it? I sell alot of packages that weight just over 15 but under 16 oz, this is a huge increase, the $1.15 was a close zone, had to see what zone 6-9 will jump.

·2 years agoIt has always been a but confusing. When you enter 16 ounces it has always automatically jumped to 1 pound BUT when you scroll down you should still see the 15.9 price for GA. Unless, as noted, this is a new change.
In any event, I did mention at the end of my post that putting in 15 ounces was the better choice. (Interestingly, on Pirateship I can put 15.9 ounces and it stays at 15.9 and is not a problem.)

·2 years agoCalling ebay is useless(like I had to say that) but he 1st thought I was complaining about the rate increase overall. Tried to explain it but his English was horrible and think he got the idea.
I sell a lot of packages(hundreds) that weight just over 15 oz and never had problem, moves it to 16 but get charge 15.999. I'm afraid if I just mark it 15 oz, USPS will hit me with a "shipping adjustment" and charge me more.
I may have to look into pirateship as long as I can get a shipping total for the year

OP2 years agoWhen purchasing labels on eBay that are over 12 oz I've always been able to round to 1 pound and always got the same price as 15 oz. On pirate ship it is different and I had to type in 15.9 because 1 lb would bump it up.
On ebay today it suddenly matters and on packages over 12 oz and under 1 lb I plan on now just putting 15 oz.

Correct, you haven't been able to do that in years. If you put 16oz into the screen, it automatically converts it to 1lb. Been that way for at least 2-3 years.

·2 years agoI hope so, to some it may not be alot but it could cost me $60-90 a month, even higher in summer when I sell most of those items.

·2 years agoeBay has offered the same price for 1 lb as 15.999 when purchasing labels through them. As of yesterday, that is not the case. Whether it's an oversite or an attempt to make more money, it's different.

·2 years agoChecking the USPS site shows that retail pricing (USPS window) is the same for 15.999 and 1 lb.
However, the commercial pricing shows the difference

·2 years agoThose are the same as the January rates. eBay had automatically given us the postage for 15.999 ounces when entering 1 pound. If anything has changed, it's the eBay label programming.
