This past Tuesday after the 3 day Holiday weekend I had 48 packages to ship. I went to purchase my labels and clicked the buy option and after about a minute of wait mode it failed and I got a message something along the lines of transaction failed you were not charged try again. So I did it again and it went through the 2nd time. I printed prepped and shipped my 48 packages all scanned before my eyes at he post office.
When I got home I had a massage from one of my buyers asking why he had 2 tracking numbers for a single purchase so I check and low and behold it did charged me the first time and I paid $337.98 twice.
So I get eBay to call me and the agent I spoke too said she can cancel on her end and it will remove the 2nd tracking numbers and and refund me right away. A few hours go by and nothing changed so I request a 2nd call and the 2nd guy told me the only option was to cancel them myself one at a time and wait the standard few days for refunds. Fine so I did that and it was a pain, fortunately the batch of labels I printed and shipped all showed in transit and the others showed in manifest so it was easy to weed them out.
Well it's Friday now and I have seen no refunds. What is freaking me out is when I check the canceled labels they all show identical tracking info with the labels I shipped out, many of which show delivered. If I copy and paste any of the tracking numbers into search at USPS.com I get the message "No information available at this time"

·4 months agoWhen you accidently print a "duplicate label" Seller is supposed to cancel it. Go to ORDERS, SHIPPING LABEL (click CANCEL LABEL). It takes about 2-3 weeks for USPS to refund money to your account (USPS wants to be sure the label was NOT used).

·4 months agoOn the rarest of occasions lol- It takes nearly a month and you receiev no notification so you must sort through many transactions to even know. Just one of the many reasons we switched to pirateship for all shipping- refunds are instant if you did caught the mistake before printing th elabel and 3 day if you did, and you get a notification when refunded. very professional
If you recieve a carrier adjustment for weight or dimensions they actually tell you unlike ebay and- there is a "dispute" button on every transaction page- simple to contest and every single didpute i have contested gets reversed within 1 week- never had one stick ( ebay wont even allow you to dispute unless you call in and then they decide if they will dispute on your behalf- its never woked once for us.
I do like keeping all my business in one place on ebay but untl they fix all these shipping shortcommings- we just cant justify the frustration and hassle anymore

·4 months agoYes I have.
But there is no notification when you get the refund. It is just a transaction in payments, If you do not view the transactions, you would not know you got the refund.

·4 months agoIt often takes a couple weeks to get the refund. The carrier has to approve it before the funds are released to your account balance. I've had a couple that took almost a month.

OP4 months agoFunny how when you cancel the label it tells you it normally takes 2 or 3 days for a refund. They need to fix that.

·4 months agoAyup. USPS waits around to be sure that the label doesn't end up getting used on a shipment. I think the tracking number/label is officially valid for 7 days after purchase, something like that. If that number never gets an Acceptance scan then the payment will be returned.
As for the buyer, just tell him which number to look at. Tracking will be updating on one number but not the other.

OP4 months agoThanks for the reply. Both tracking numbers are showing the same info and the 2nd numbers were removed when I canceled the 2nd labels fortunately only 1 out of 48 buyers questioned it.

·4 months agoHi @relicpeddler
A USPS shipping label can be voided/cancelled within 28 days of purchasing it.
The refund is then issued by USPS in 2-4 weeks … after they’ve verified that the label hasn’t been used. [No refunds are ever issued after only three days. You were given wrong information about that . I’m sorry.]

·4 months agoI have numerous times. Takes 3-4 weeks as refunds come from the Carrier and NOT ebay.

OP4 months agoThanks for the reply. I'm fine with waiting just want to be sure I will get them. Question how are the funds received? Do they go right to your purchase method I purchased from my eBay funds.

·4 months ago@relicpeddler I can only tell you that I use Paypal (as I use a Credit Card earning points) and the 'refund' gets refunded back to Paypal.
tarotfindsandmore
·4 months agoHow do you do that? The OP bought their shipping labels through ebay so the refund goes back to their account balance with ebay.
What do you mean you "use PayPal"?

When you purchase a shipping label from eBay ... if you scroll way down to the bottom of the screen, you will see an option to pay for the shipping label EITHER with 1) PayPal OR 2) buyer's pending funds.
@relicpeddler apparently chose the PayPal option ... which remains in place for future label purchases UNTIL/UNLESS the person changes it.

·4 months agoAhhh, thanks! I had no idea that was even an option.

You may consider looking into it. I pay for my shipping labels using a credit card on file with paypal (never any cash balance), and then I get all the cash back points from that credit card. It's not a huge amount of money, but it adds up over time.
