Global Shipping Program
Why is the GSP soooooooooo slow? Seller in the US shipped on 1st May and the GSP still hasn't even given me a tracking number, with it simply saying 'in transit to next facility' 4 times. In today's fast paced world, GSP really isn't fit for purpose.

·4 months agoIt today's world it is perfect! Fabulous seller protection...and to me that is the number one reason to use it. Not really concerned if its fast or cheap or desirable from a buyers standpoint. It is an option that does get the job done, and ASAP shipping was never a part of the equation or payment

·5 months agoIt is a USPS issue, not an EIS (GSP) issue. My packages arrive at the ESE hub from the northeast USA in less than a week, with a next day from order shipping date. EIS has nothing to do with the delay, it is the USPS domestic leg that is the issue (that kind of shipping time to the EIS hub in Illinois should be very rare however.) You won't get a tracking update from EIS themselves until it is passed off from USPS (domestic) to EIS.
International shipping carries a ton of liabilities for sellers, and those liabilities only continue to increase and grow. EIS protects sellers from all kinds of international liabilities and problems; without EIS I would not ship internationally. Many others wouldn't either.
There is no cheap international shipping at any speed anymore, at least from the US (USPS got rid of sea mail back in 2007, and tripled the cost of first class international packages in 2014 literally overnight).

·5 months agoThat is not the Global Shipping Program. US sellers have access to Ebay International Shipping which is similar but not the same carriers or policies as GSP.
The in-transit message sounds like a USPS issue, and the shipment has probably not reached the EIS hub.
USPS is experiencing serious financial problems, volume is way off (>40%) and they are losing money on over 70% of their routes. The day of reckoning is approaching. Either USPS will need to be subsidized or allowed to take whatever action is needed to become financially stable.
Denmark recently discontinued letter delivery, it is now only delivering parcels.

OP5 months agoYeh, you're quite right. GSP changed name a couple of years ago if I recall? I just refer to it as GSP out of habit.

·5 months agoFast international shipping isn't cheap, and cheap international shipping isn't fast.

OP5 months agoMy packages to the US take 7 days, and it's cheaper than GSP, using Royal Mail, tracked from door to door, updated regularly.
To not have an update for a week, and not even a tracking number is just such poor service from GSP.

·5 months agoSo international sipping has to be expensive in order to get some kind of confirmation after 13 days?

I have had packages shipped from the US to Chile which took 5 weeks. So yes purchasing from the US can be slower than other locations. USPS service is slow. Takes a week to ship from coast to coast. When you say fast paced world that doesn't mean carriers are going to be fast. If you want things immediately or within a week then purchase local.

·5 months agoI would say it depends on how much they charge for shipping.
