Ghost Transaction
Dear community,
For the first time, on Sunday night, I used my phone for an ebay purchase. The transaction went through, I used paypal, but it doesn't appear on my laptop when I check my ebay page. I received an email confirming the transaction, but when I try the tracking option I get "! Order Not Found," in a red rectangle. I changed my ebay and paypal passwords, and I checked with the two credit card companies I use with paypal to see if there has been any unusual activity - no.
Is there anything else I can do for safety or to verify that this is a good transaction?

·1 year agoIf you did not purchase as a guest, is it possible you were signed in to a different eBay account on your phone? It is very easy to inadvertently create a new eBay account by signing in using a social media account not linked to an existing eBay account.

OP1 year agoThank you for responding. The package is due today, so I'll have my answer today. I am not likely to use my phone again to make a purchase. Sticking with the laptop is something with which I'm comfortable.

·1 year agoWere you logged in to your eBay account or did you purchase as a guest?
Tracking will only be available once the item ships.
If you purchased as a guest it will not show on your account as a purchase.

Do you mean a person can buy stuff as a guest and not have to register as a member? How does eBay Policy work with guests - are they still subject to the same rules?

Yes, buyers can purchase on eBay without registering, or without using an eBay account.
Since a guest transaction is not connected to an account, the user has to use a link from an email in order deal with the guest order.

Guest purchases still qualify for eBay's money back guarantee, but guests cannot leave or receive feedback for purchases.

The package arrived safe and sound. The transaction worked normally as far as transfer of funds. Here is what I think happened - for the first time I used my mobile phone to access ebay, I was prompted to use Google and I took that route. That broke the link with my ebay account and had me purchasing through Goggle. So, I was a guest.
I'm not going to do that any more. I enjoy the little affirmations thanking the seller for a good transaction. Also, since I always pay immediately following an auction, I have a catalogue of warm, fuzzy affirmations from sellers.
