Freight Forwarders & USPS Delivery Scans...What's Up???
Summary: modulok! inquired about recent experiences with USPS deliveries to freight forwarders in the Doral/Miami area, noting past issues with tracking updates. They asked if others have had reliable USPS 'Delivered' scans without signature confirmation. lakefor94 expressed that they avoid using USPS for freight forwarders, while vintage*brooches shared they never experienced problems using USPS. bdmh-enterprises mentioned that bulk scans at large forwarders might not show as 'Delivered' on public tracking but have received scans reliably, recommending signature confirmation for expensive items.
I know earlier in the year items delivered to some freight forwarders (especially Doral/Miami area) the USPS was refusing to update the tracking to Delivered status and simply left it hanging at Out For Delivery (which did not bode well for INR claims by these buyers). The USPS would also repeatedly reject all insurance claims for lost mail using the excuse that the address was a mail forwarding agency (which does not make any sense to me...I mean it's a legit business with a legit address). After being burned a couple of times by this scenario I had to ship everything to these FFs with Signature Confirmation which does get a delivered scan on the tracking BUT costs me an extra $3.95.
My main question is...is this still happening or has the USPS changed there stance on this and are now reliably updating the tracking to Delivered status? Who here has RECENT (last couple of months) experience with FFs and receiving USPS Delivered scans without using sig confirmation? If you are not getting them, where is this happening (city)? If you are getting them, where is this happening (city)?
Just for the record, I refuse to use Fed Ex or UPS so please only reply with your experiences using USPS in the last couple of months please. Thank you for your time.

·3 weeks agoIf they are bulk scanned at drop off those only show delivered on USPS's back end system. This generally happens at the really big forwarders. You can probably get an official note stating they were delivered by going to your PO if you really needed to.
I've had a few FF orders in the last few months and they all got delivered scans. I do get signature on anything over a couple hundred to make sure though. Never had a problem shipping to forwarders anywhere even Doral.

@bdmh-enterprises I appreciate the response but....Do you really think Ebay would accept that note as proof of delivery? Really?

·3 weeks agoThat's interesting. I only use USPS and I ship to many Freight Forwarder addresses and have never had a problem?

OP3 weeks ago@vintage*brooches How recently have you shipped to a freight forwarder in the Doral/Miami area using USPS and no sig confirm and still got a delivered scan on the tracking? Thank you for your response.

·3 weeks agoI think it may depend on where you live and what type of items you sell.
I'm in California and I mostly sell vintage costume jewelry. Most of my Freight Forwarder sales go to Delaware and Oregon.
I spoke with an eBay rep last year who said most of his Freight Forward packages go to Texas and he sells sneakers.
Here are my most recent FF packages and all were scanned as delivered.
Newark DE, shipped on June 29, scanned as delivered on July 7.
Newcastle DE, shipped on June 26, scanned as delivered on July 2.
Portland OR, shipped on June 24, scanned as delivered on June 26.
Newark DE, shipped June 23, scanned as delivered on June 29.
I'm thinking you need to report this to the USPS since it seems to be specific to "some" Freight Forwarder addresses.
