Free Ship to lower 48 but charge extra for AK HI
I went into ship preferences set a base cost + a per pound charge to ship 3 day
opted this two states
Rates and exclusions
Ship tables
under standard regions added the two states
But now all my products in lower 48 show cost to ship?
No more free shipping
What am i doing wrong?

·2 weeks ago@superiorfiltersusa Your post makes little sense, but I'm going to try to go through the weeds and figure it out. You need to correct me if I am wrong on what you are trying to do.
You want to offer free shipping to the lower 48 states, but charge a by the pound rate for Alaska and Hawaii. You are correct in that you'd do this through the use of shipping tables.
You set your base rate in the business policy. Since you only want Alaska and Hawaii buyers to have a seperate shipping charge, you need to check the free shipping box in the business policy. In essence this sets your shipping rate to everybody else to $0 aka 'free shipping.'
When you check the 'free shipping' check box (shown below), it will gray out the area where you enter the base rate. As long as the shipping table is set up correctly, then only buyers shipping to Alaska and Hawaii will be charged seperately for shipping.
Presumably you already have shipping built into the cost of the item, so you are only looking to collect the extra is costs to ship to those two states. This means those buyers will actually pay more for shipping since you are setting it up to charge by the pound. It would be better to set it up as a flat rate, and maybe set it at $5 or $10. You are pricing them out of the market otherwise, which defeats the purpose of trying to sell to them.

·2 weeks ago@superiorfiltersusa I hear you. There is a way to do it but it would require multiple policies. Just understand that your buyers in Alaska and Hawaii are likely to be priced out of the market because you've built in the cost of shipping to California, but not allotted any of that cost to buyers in Hawaii or Alaska. At some point you have to ask is it worth selling them products that weigh 70 pounds.

"Free shipping" only means that the buyer is not paying the shipping cost (even though the shipping charges are really included in the sale price).
But the seller is actually paying the shipping charges -- so it is not "free shipping" for the seller.

@superiorfiltersusa It's NOT everything showing a shipping cost. Half show 'Free Shipping'.
I don't know the answer as I don't use tables, but I can tell you that everything that starts with 'Sediment' shows a shipping cost. Maybe you have those items under a different category?? and all the rest show 'Free Shipping'.
