framed ART shipping costs??
UPS quote is $300 shipping , packing, Insurance, for a 12 lbs, glass framed art work. When I look at comparable listings shipping is no where near $300. Is it baked into the price? Hard to tell unless I research all the listings art. Ive never shipped large items! Maybe never will ? LOL

·4 months agoBonjour,
You may want to ask a moving company for a quote. An antique dealer in your area might be able to recommend one.

·4 months agoIf you want to try to pack and ship it yourself, call around to some printers in your area and ask them if they have any large printing plate boxes or other large flat boxes that you can have. Many printing materials for large format presses arrive in the perfect box size for shipping large format artwork.

·4 months agoThe OP's quote includes packing, shipping, insurance etc. Does yours include those things?

·4 months agoJust the maximum shipping cost for the contiguous US, with the included $100 insurance. Private insurance for additional coverage is better and cheaper anyway.

·4 months agoHaving them pack does add to the cost. You can check rates on the UPS web site. You need the exact package size and weight. An extra inch can trigger over size rates that are " murder ".
Just what size it is?

OP4 months ago28x35"
I went in a UPS store to check. Clerk seemed a little clueless but he came up with $300. I have 2 art works for sale 😞 same size.
Thank you

I have shipped a couple over the years, free, for relatives. To do a 28x35, I would probably charge ~$200 and it would take me about 2.5 hours to pack appropriately to avoid damage. If glass is involved, this would be taped, bubblewrapped, double boxed with an inch of cardboard sheeting in the outer box and a 1/2" on the inner box.
Might be one of the only shipped items I would buy insurance on if a high dollar painting.
Does not include shipping.
Uline sells boxes like that for $135.

OP4 months agoThe UPS clerk mentioned the price of gas, so $200 sounds right for last month 🙂 or maybe next month? LOL Thanks
