First time buying from Ebay... open box condition?
I bought a pair of headphones from someone who listed them as open box. As I understand it, the description for open box items includes "excellent, new condition with no wear", but when the item arrived it was covered in dust, some small hairs, very light nail scratches, and inside both earpads at the bottom were a few crumbs/particles of something brown-ish.
This is my first time in this situation, so I just wanted to ask for some of your thoughts on what I should do. Am I overreacting and needing to just suck it up and go clean the thing? Or would you act differently given the scenario?

·2 years agoIf they were listed as Open Box, but they were used, they are Not As Described and you're covered by the MBG.
Go to your purchase history and click return item and select, the item doesn't match the description as the reason.
The seller will have 3 days to accept the return and pay return shipping or refund without returning.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.

·2 years agoDid item say "used" anywhere in the description or title?
Or did seller state "excellent"?

OP2 years agoThe title is just the product name, "Drop x Sennheiser PC37X Gaming Headset Black".
Reading under "Item description from the seller", nowhere does it say "used", or "excellent". It just appears to be a copy-paste of the default item description. They did add a note for including a third party headphone jack splitter, but that's about it.

·2 years agoSounds like it is the seller's fault not using certain words...in my own opinion.
I would contact seller first...always try to work it out with the seller first. A "partial refund"?...couldn't hurt.
Got to be very polite and business like when emailing a seller...even sending photo might help(be not needed).
Otherwise, I would do a return not as described. But work it out with the seller first before opening a claim.
