Fedex shipping charges
Summary: The discussion is centered around Fedex shipping charges. Several participants, including galactic-plastic, kensgiftshop, and others, contributed their thoughts, but their specific content details were not provided.
Curious if anyone receives notices about underpaid shipping charges from Fedex. I tried rounding up the weight and dimensions and I’m still getting charged. Sometimes a lot. I know I’m not inputting incorrect info in. The quote from Ebay should match the actual shipping cost, yet it doesn’t.

·4 months agoWhat is the size of your packaged? Dimensional weight is often used. Ebay shipping calculator is suppose to account for it, but im not sure it always does. So if the DW is greater then actual weight, the DW is what you want in your listing. Double check it against the carriers website to verify eBay has it right

·4 months ago@galactic-plastic I frequently use FedEx. In three years, I've had one charge and it was because I messed up and typed in 1 inch for one of the box sides instead of 12 or whatever it was supposed to be. I recently received a credit of about $4. I tried to give FedEx extra money and they wouldn't take it.
FedEx always rounds up dimensions and weight, so you should be doing that anyway. 12.1" should be input as 13". 8.2LBS should be entered as 9LBS. I go one inch on one side only beyond what the rounded up inch should be. This covers me should something land on a box and it bulges out. For example, if the measured box size is 19.8x15.3x5.7 inches, I will input 20x16x7 inches. That third side I round up an extra whole inch. I never have any issues.
You also have to remember that FedEx adjusts their fuel surcharge every week. Make sure you promptly hand your FedEx packages over to FedEx after you have purchased the shipping label. There are lot of sellers who print a label when an order comes in, but they have 3-day handling and wait before giving the package to the carrier. You cannot do that. FedEx will come back for more money if the fuel surcharge has changed.

·4 months agoI priced shipping using the UPS website (as I do have an account, but no discounts yet) and package shipping was $16 when it is $6 using USPS.
Therefore, it's a GIANT MIRAGE that UPS is cheaper.

·4 months agoThis is a common complaint that many sellers come into this community asking about.

·4 months agoIt should but it's not.
The price Ebay gives is only an estimate.
Both FedEx and UPS like to add other charges after the package has been delivered.

OP4 months agoThere should be an exclamation point when choosing that option. I rarely use fedex or ups so Its a surprise when it happens. Do I just price the item higher to compensate for potential charges? Problem is it varies, sometimes it’s $12 and sometimes $3 for example. Sometimes its a credit.

·4 months agoI've only ever received one overcharge attempt from UPS and it was for a few dollars on two different packages. I use Pirate Ship and disputed the charges through their portal, and I was refunded within a few days. My measurements are always correct.
I've never used FedEx and I never will.
