I've gotten ship adjustment charges on FEDEX shipped packages at what seems to be an unusually high rate of occurrence. (Ive had 4 adjustment in the last 6 months amounting to approx $90 total). I just paid the adjustments and finally stopped using FEDEX for a bit but just recently shipped an item FEDEX economy to test the system. The package was 3 lbs. and 15" x4" x2". I purposely increased the dimension sizes by 2" in each direction and the weight to 5 lbs. I kept increasing the size and weight incrementally until the cost increased from the original charge to the next increment. Since the weight was now double and the package was larger in size I would have no issues. Low and behold FEDEX sends me an adjustment for $1.38 on an original cost of $10.70 now totaling 12.08 claiming the package weighed 6.8 lbs. My problem isn't about the money, it is insignificant in the total scheme of things but this seems like at best FEDEX taking advantage of me assuming I would not complain about it because the amount was so small or at worst this is blatant fraud. This seems to be a recurring pattern only with FEDEX. Has anyone else had this happen and have you gotten a resolution. It seems like there could be a class action lawsuit in the making if this is widespread.

Packages were 1 and 2 Lbs , they were saying 24Lbs and more. I agree if they do that thousands of times a day, the money floating back-and-forth is a lot

Also, extremely odd that most people who tend to have Fed Ex issues are auto parts sellers. I have noticed a definite pattern in it.

Been there!! It's maddening. Sooooooo maddening.
I ship with FedEx on eBay every day. I used to get hit with extra fees, but I learned how to avoid them.
If you use FedEx on eBay, follow these two rules:
Boxes only. Use cardboard boxes. Never use plastic bags or poly mailers, or FedEx will charge extra**.
Round up the weight. Always round up to the next full pound. If an item weighs 1 pound 12 ounces, enter it as 2 pounds.
Doing these two things stopped all the extra charges for me!
**I was charged a penalty of $30 for the plastic shrink wrap over a box. They only want cardboard boxes (unless it's FedEx flat rate). I was told plastic bags can be used if they're the exact same dimensions as FedEx's packaging but have yet to test that and chance a $30 penalty.

·1 month agoI now have the 4th weight adjustment in the past 2 weeks have gone thru EBay to get refunds. Each package was less than 2 lbs but adjusted for 24 lbs or more

·1 month agoI agree they don’t make it easy. They try and you go thru hoops first to get to a live person. One of the agents who got me a refund said to contact EBay next time and they would contact FedEx with a 3 way chat to get a refund. You can go thru the Help/contact. Tab then try and follow to go thru their hoops. Keep saying Live agent and at some point you will get to a live person. These are 2 numbers I have for EBay 18665403229. 18015451800 ,it might be easier. Best of Luck

·2 months agoWhile we hear about this often, I don't think it is very wide spread. When you consider there are MILLIONS of packages shipped every day through the various services I would estimate the adjustment issue is maybe a fraction of 1%. And often those adjustments are the fault of the seller as they do not understand dimensional weight. My shipping runs about 75% USPS, 15 %FedEx, 10% UPS. I have yet to get an adjustment having shipped hundreds of packages over the past 3 years. The cost differential in shipping for larger, heavier items is just too much to automatically discount a shipper.
And why are so many people "sue happy" and suggest suing someone over a perceived wrong?

·1 month agoRoughly half the shipping adjustments I ever had were in my favor, even though I used the exact weights and measurements.
I think there are a lot of weight guessers and people leaving the package size at the default 1x1x1.

·2 months agoI haven't seen that with FedEx any more than usual. We ship about 5 items a day with FedEx. Had a huge issue with USPS last year. I was having about 5-7 items a day with incorrect weight adjustments. Had to manually dispute them. I'd say about 200-300 total at least. I assumed they had a faulty scanner as it is no longer an issue. I would think the same thing if you are having an issue with FedEx. FedEx is probably more on top of things than USPS so hopefully it's fixed soon. Just keep calling eBay to have them request the adjustment. Takes a few weeks, but better than giving FedEx more than they already take.
