FEDEX OVER CHARGING UNDERPAID AFTER LABEL PRINTED ON EBAY - Be aware!!!
We shipped an item on 4/29 using eBay’s shipping calculator, which estimated the cost at $21.76. However, on 5/1, we were unexpectedly charged an additional $31.50 by FedEx through eBay for an “UNDERPAID†amount.
If eBay had shown the actual FedEx charges upfront, we would have chosen USPS instead, which would have been much cheaper.
It seems unreliable to trust eBay’s shipping estimates—it’s safer to either use USPS through eBay or check rates directly on each carrier’s website.

·1 year agoI primarily use UPS through Pirate Ship and I've never had an upcharge. Of course, I always input the correct dimensions and weight.
FedEx is too shady with their fees, and I would certainly never ship with eBay as the account holder.

·1 year agoBoth UPS and Fedex are overcharging and Ebay promptly charges you and you have to dispute it ,but dont expect results in your favor. They are going the way of insurance companies and other large corps,screw the small customer.

FedEx is notorious for surcharges. I stay away from them.
I ship every business day with UPS and have for the last 8 years with only 2 upcharges at 2 dollars and change both times for dimensions descepancy.
Just don't ship any Frankenstein looking boxes. Stick to rectangles and squares and you will be fine.
Also, a seller has to know when to use an actual freight carrier such as SAIA, R&L Carriers etc.

·1 year agoBack in 2018 FedEx had major billing issues of triple charging same label .it was a mess I had shipped 12 packages . Ebay had a mess on their hands having to despute the charges . I was amazed Ebay didn't close their account down over the thousands of dollars that where billed over system Glich FedEx claimed happened . From phone call I had from a U.S. rep .

Estimates - FedxEx and UPS are only estimates.
I would never use eBays FedEx or UPS - because they are "estimates"

·1 year agoWe primarily use FedEx because USPS has lost too many Items in transit or shipped them to the wrong country first and because USPS tracking is unreliable. We don't use the eBay shipping. We have a good discount negotiated with FedEx and print our labels through FedEx. By including FedEx Ground shipping costs in the cost of our Items we are in control. Also, you can set your FedEx and UPS quoted pricing to be at their undiscounted rate so that eBay doesn't underquote the price. Go to Shipping Preferences at https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf and then to [Carrier rate settings] and select: Standard rates without discount. At the end of the day, remember, this is an eBay problem and not a FedEx or UPS problem. eBay needs to fix their shipping calculator.

·1 year agoNothing new; been going on since ebay did the Fedex thing; Fedex (and UPS) are only 'estimates' and does NOT include any surcharges (residential, oversize, overweight, home delivery etc.)
The REAL charges are tallied AFTER actual delivery by both Fedex and UPS.

·1 year agoI solved the problem for myself by stopping using either fedex or ups about 10 yrs ago. I've had none of those problems since only using USPS.
