Fedex Charging for pickups?
Hello!
I've been selling on eBay for a couple of years now and today I saw something I hadn't seen before. I normally sell sneakers and they have to get authenticated before being sent to the buyer. The label that prints out for these orders are automatically Fedex labels, which I do not like. In the past, they would let you choose which carrier you wanted and I always went with USPS. Anyways, I print out the label and go to the Fedex app and then a popup shows that says starting August 18th, 2025 they will be charging for pickups. I click the link and I'm reading about this Network 2.0. It seems that its referring to big distributors that use fedex alot and I'm not sure if it pertains to my order? It says regular pickups done Monday - Friday incur a $7.50 fee for 1 day, $15 fee for 2 days, and so and so forth. My question is does that all also affect eBay sellers and we now have to pay the fedex weekly fee for pickups? Is there anyway to switch back to USPS? Thank you!

·11 months agoFor reference, here is FedEx's new pickup rate chart, effective August 18, 2025. This can be found on page 130 of the FedEx Service Guide (link).
Notice there are large differences if a seller has regularly scheduled pickups every week, or if they request one-off on call pickups. Take note of all the potential surcharges for residential, extended area, and remote area.

·11 months agoI get weekly, Mon-Fri, pickup from FedEx.
I was paying $23/week for every weekday pickup. Without notice, it jumped to $43/week!
$170/month for pickup from a COMMERCIAL location (commercial development with many neighbors getting pickup) is ridiculous. This is on top of paying for shipping. UPS charges under $13/week.
Bad business. Too greedy. I'll be switching away from FedEx again. All of them are getting ridiculous with the increases. I guess that's what we get for wanting USPS to be a profit center.

·11 months agoLocate a fed ex store or drop off location near you & take it there if it is more convenient. Otherwise, yes there is a fee for pickup. I luck out in that Walgreens acts as a drop off location in my area.

·11 months agoOh yea, U guys r not alone, I was just reviewing my credit card and found a $17.98 charge for a single pickup last week. No bill, no notification, they just withdrew the amount. That is a ridiculous amount of money for a single pickup, it was $8 more than the shipping fee. Looks like USPS will be very busy.

·11 months agoSame thing happened to me the first week. No notification of any changes. Then I have 3 charges that week for 18.01, 17.98 & 18.01. Never received an email or any notification when I set up the pickups. They were no help on the phone either. I ended up getting ahold of my credit card company for help and closed my FedEx account.

·11 months agohmm, when I had fedex pick up for a period of time even years ago at a somewhat rural location it was $1.00 per package, it was not something I was aware of at first but after a little digging I found it, so I stopped having packages picked up, at the time I was under the assumption package pickups were gratis.......
I believe I found the charge after reviewing my account and looking at the final detailed charges, you know those little things like fuel surcharges when gas was historically low..... or extra rural delivery fee, sneaky stuff they like to add on.

·11 months agoI was using FedEx about three times a week when they had free pick up but now that they’re charging, I don’t mind just paying more to use the post office because they come to my business every day to pick up packages for free. It’s just more convenient. I don’t have time to go drop something off at the FedEx location and it’s not cost-effective to pay $92 a month to have them come pick up packages, FedEx needs to change their policies

·11 months agoI ship about 10 items thru fedex a day. no more after august 18th. USPS is my new go to. even if it cost more to ship it saves time to drive to fedex every single day.

OP11 months agoThat's an insane amount to charge for just 1 pickup. They picked up two packages for me two days ago and I still don't see a balance on my account, so maybe I'm good? I'm not even sure anymore

·1 year agoNever called FedEx or UPS for a one day pickup.
I do pay FedEx to stop by and pick up my packages though. They come by here every day at 2:00
That costs me $92 a month for FedEx

·11 months agoUp until this week, FedEx has never charged me for pickups. I do schedule them via the FedEx Delivery Manager and get a confirmation number. But for years, after pickup is complete there has never been a charge to my account. Perhaps eBay Top Rated Plus sellers with 1 day handling get a waiver on pick-up charges when using eBay labels?
Or perhaps the driver (usually the local delivery driver comes to our block every day) was somehow waiving the charge?
Whatever the reason, that is no longer the case. I just got charged $18.01 for a single residential pickup. I called FedEx help number and they have no clue. Not only that but my pickup for tomorrow does not even show in my dashboard even though I have a confirmation number. But my main concern is why / how were my pick up charges being waived up until this week? An expensive mystery to be sure.

·1 year agocan you just drop them off at a FedEx drop off spot?
If the shoes are valuable enough to be authenticated I definitely would not let the USPS handle them.

OP1 year agoMy city has 1 Fedex hub that is really far away and the other drop off locations include Walgreens. One time I dropped it off at Walgreens and tracking didn't update for 10 days and I had the buyer keep messaging me. Although I have heard bad stuff about USPS, they've never done me wrong and they always pick up my packages for free same day. It's a $120 sneaker so it's not that valuable.
