FEDEX $300 OVERCHARGE DISPUTE!!!
Summary: bud52 shared their frustration about being overcharged $300 by FedEx for a shipment, despite both packages being identical and weighed at drop-off. They expressed issues with receiving a refund from eBay. eoma689485 explained the concept of dimensional weight, which might have contributed to the additional charges. asset_liquidators criticized FedEx for alleged corruption, while babyers88 inquired about the packaging specifics, suggesting that certain package shapes can incur extra fees. tenoem suggested consulting an expert in the community familiar with FedEx issues.
So I shipped two halves of a clamshell $155 each one went through no problem. The packages were the same one FedEx up-charged $300. I called eBay they told me 3 -5 days I would have a refund. 4 subsequent calls to eBay still No REFUND.
Michelle of the leadership team told me FedEx was having delays if you have not been contacted call in two weeks. I had the packages weighed, by FedEx, at drop off and the packages weighed 100 pounds. How can this happen? How can I dispute after a month, the shipping materials are gone! This is WRONG, Fedex should measure and weigh all packages at drop-off and acceptance. To tell me $300 or something latter Is WRONG. Offer - Acceptance = Contract. To try and charge more after acceptance = FEDEX Can Charge anything! This must stop either FedEx MUST weigh & measure packages at station, and notify shipper or customer on the spot or NO UP-CHARGES!@!! I have been with eBay 28 years this has NEVER Happened! THIS IS WRONG!!!

Dimensional weight - a pricing method used by shipping companies to charge for the amount of space a package takes up in a vehicle, rather than just its actual scale weight.
FedEx and UPS measure every package and if the Dimensional weight price is more than the actual weight price, they charge Dimensional weight.
USPS does not use Dimensional Weight for packages under a square foot, but anything over 12 x 12 x 12 - Dimensional weight.
