eBay's "new" payment system delays shipping and removes Paypal seller protection
I will premise this statement with:
I've been an active seller on eBay since 2002
I'm at 98.9% positive reviews
I've had no problems with eBay until NOW
As you are probably already aware, eBay has now FORCED ALL SELLERS to switch to their new payment system. This eliminates Paypal as the payment provider and eliminates all Paypal protections for the seller. This was especially useful as there were several incidents where eBay would do nothing to help with a refund and I would call Paypal to reverse the charges.
This new system doesn't work! A buyer will purchase an item and pay for the item in Paypal. Instead of going straight to me so that I can purchase a shipping label and send off my package to the buyer the same day, now eBay holds onto the payment for 1-3 days and then sends it to your bank with another 1-5 days of processing. In the meantime, they demand you send out the package BEFORE you get any money! Last time I checked, I do not know of a single online business that ships your item to you BEFORE you pay them!
This new payment system causes a lot of problems as some buyers get mad at me because I can't ship their item the same day as promised. Other buyers are able to understand and then get frustrated by eBay and will look to use other sites from now on.
I should be able to still have Paypal as my payment provider as they will post the buyer's payment the same day and the funds are available to then purchase the shipping label. If my only option is this terrible payment system that is a last ditch effort by eBay's board of directors to squeeze every last cent out of this now sham of an operation, then I will be using Craigslist, Next Door, Amazon, Etsy, Bonanza, eBid, etc. etc. Instead of being innovative and fairly competing with all these other sites, eBay has decided to take on this new payment system, which will have long time sellers and buyers leave your platform.

·3 years agoEtsy has new payment system - sellers must use plaid - plaid rewuires sellers t give it bank routing snd acct numbers snd bank password. I wuit my successful shop of nearly 10 yrs. Too much rxposure. Plaid was successfully surd f millions f selling user information! Now, ebay is changed. I have been on ebay f 15 20 yrs too. Ebay requiring item tb received by buyer before I get payment I am 100% seller! Not getting paid f nearly one month and I am on daily payout! Reading these complaints and ebay responses gives me pause. I suspect there wb legal problems w this payment platform. Soon Calif ecommerce div wb involved if I am understanding these complaonts.

·3 years agoI agree that this new system has forced me to use other platforms of advertising and listing my items for sale. The new payment system is very frustrating. The original pay Pal pairing was ideal and safe for everyone. OH WELL!! we will see how this affects their future. Makes me want to remove my account here!

·3 years agoI have been on ebay for at least 15 yrs. Since 2014 primarily on Etsy. Etsy changed their financial system tp Plaid app. Plaid app requires Etsy users to give their bank routing and acct number and password! Plaid was sued for selling user information! Too much exposure so I came back to EBay. Now, ebay no longer uses Paypal and the system will not pay me intil the package is delivered to buyer. I have nearly 500 feedback not counting sales w no feedback. The ebay offer system told me an offer and counter offer did not include free shipping. When item sold I had to pay shipping. Shipping said they saw that I was not tb charged but said there is a glitch in system. Yes, to get more commissions f ebay by bait and switch— add insult to injury no payment u til item is delivered via tracking no. How convenient f ebay that estimates delivery on 1/26 so payment not here til 2/1! Whoever is the middle finance person is making a fortune w millions in ebay held funds. This seems to be a problem to take up w the state of calif and feds. Usury? Bait and switch to garner more fees? Very disappointing.

·3 years agoI'm sorry, but you misunderstood how shipping works with offers. That's not what the policy is. eBay clearly states that the shipping costs and terms on the sellers listing remain the same, and are automatically applied to the offer. So, shipping costs should not be changed when making offers or counter-offers:

I'm sorry that you (apparently) got bad advice from the CS rep. I suppose you can always ask, but the buyer is not required to pay any additional costs after the transaction ... and sellers can't enforce that, and may get a defect if they refuse to complete a transaction because the buyer did not want to pay an additional fee. That's how eBay interprets this policy.

Don't know about the other sites you mentioned, but Etsy uses the same program.
Ebay does not hold the payment for 1-3 days, unless you're on weekly payouts.
If your not going to use the pending funds to pay for shipping, you need to extend your handling time.

·3 years agowow! Ebay is making me wait until item is received by buyer across country before I am paid- delivery est on 1/26 so I have to wait for few more days to get my payment after that! I have sold on ebay f 15 or more yesrs and never waited f payment via paypal more than 48 hrs. Ebay took their huge fees asap but hung me out to dry. Plus ebay is misrepresenting offers by telling sellers offers are made wo free shipping but when sold buyer is charged shipping. Is this tact to get more fees f ebay?! Both situations are concerning.
