eBay's International Standard Delivery shipments are getting overcharged.
It has come to my attention that several of my shipments made through "eBay's (EasyShip's) International Standard Delivery Service" have been improperly weighed resulting in overcharges. Specifically at the consolidation center located in Glendale Heights, IL, 60139.
One of the shipments in question was for two bottles of over-the-counter medication going out to Chile weighing in at a total of 14.3 ounces. Note that 14.3 ounces is the total weight of the product already within a 9" x 7" x 3" padded bubble mailer, and already with the shipping label adhered to it. With this weight rounded up to 15 ounces and the previously mentioned dimensions, the postage cost was estimated to be $19.00, however, I was charged $34.00 after it was re-weighed by EasyShip at their consolidation center.
To put the ridiculousness of these overcharges into perspective, the current rates for shipments to Chile utilizing EIS are as follows,
0-8 ounces - $13.00
9-16 ounces - $19.00 (this is the price tier of my shipment was and should have been billed in)
17-32 ounces - $20.00
33-48 ounces - $30.00
49-64 ounces - $34.00 (this is the price tier my shipment was billed in)
Two bottles of over-the-counter tablets weighing in at a total of 14.3 ounces were somehow billed as if they weighed between 49-64 ounces.
After spending four days and many frustrating hours with eBay's C/S as well as an eBay rep on Facebook, I was unsuccessful at getting any assistance regarding this issue. To clarify, all of these international shipments go out directly through EasyShip. Not FedEx, not UPS, not USPS, so the prices they quote at the time of generating the labels must match the charge later if the weight and dimensions were specified accurately at the time of printing the label.
I'm curious as to how prevalent this issue is in the community so any and all feedback would be much appreciated.
