eBay's international shipping and shipping status not updating
What do you do if your shipping status hasn't updated since Fri, Apr 24?
If a buyer reaches out asking about an update, what's the next step outside reviewing details and going to eBay's shipper (DHL)? Can I reach out to eBay or what do you suggest? At this time, it only shows that it's "been processed a transit facility" in Germany.
I know sometimes packages aren't scanned prior to next location but it's been well over a week.
Thanks

If you used eBay International Shipping (EIS), and your package has been confirmed as delivered to the EIS Shipping Hub (usually in Illinois), your responsibility to the buyer is completed -- eBay now is 100% responsible.
Direct your buyer to contact eBay directly, using the channels which eBay supplies to international buyers through the EIS program (such as "item not received").
Basically, EIS has purchased the item from YOU -- now it is the responsibility of EIS to deal with your buyer.

·5 months agoDid you ship eIS to the hub or use international shipping on your own? If eIS then it's eBay package anyway, not much for you to be involved with as it is no longer your shipment. Only thing you can tell a buyer is what tracking shows

OP5 months agoYeah, eIS.

·5 months agoThen there is literally nothing you can do, it's all in eBay's hands now. Tell this to the buyer and say they should file a not received claim when the delivery date has passed. eBay will handle it, you will not be involved.
I too have found that no matter how much delay there seems to be, eIS manages to get the stuff delivered by the last EDD 99% of the time.

·5 months agoIt is not uncommon for shipments destined for certain countries via EIS to not be updated for what appears to be a long time.
EIS and DHL consolidate shipments to their destination countries, and low traffic destinations will sit until there are enough shipments.
Babysitting shipments is rarely a productive practice for either buyers or sellers. My experience with EIS is that the delivery is, 99% of the time, made within the delivery estimate, The delivery estimate takes into account these delays.
I recommend that you sit on your hands.
If the buyer contacts you, you should tell them when and how to file an INR claim, and tell them that is the only permissible action.
I have found European buyers to be extremely pleased with EIS delivery times, because they have realistic expections for them.

Very helpful, thank you.

This destination is to Taiwan. Not sure where it would head next with DHL.

·5 months agoIf you shipped the item out using eIS within your handling time and the item is delivered to the eBay hub in Glendale Heights Illinois, your involvement as a seller is done. If there are any delivery delays it’s on eBay to handle.
If the buyer reaches out all you can say is the item is still in transit, eBay will handle any item not received cases.

OP5 months agoHow does the buyer reach out to eBay? Is there a wait period if it doesn't show and only then can you ask for help?

·5 months agoNot a whole lot you can do, especially if it sits in customs..and shipping to Germany has other issues that can cause delays

Can you elaborate? This is all eBay at this point, including the shipping service they choose.

·5 months agoWell, Germany has packaging laws, Germany's Packaging Act (VerpackG), all sellers must abide to, and if shipping direct to Germany on your own, then you need a 3rd party registration LUCID number that shows you are complying with their packaging requirement. If using eIS program & shipping to the hub, then eBay has a certification number that applies since they are now the exporter....however, seller's packaging must still comply or run the risk of being denied at the customs.

OP5 months agoYeah, I'm not sure what to expect then since it should be going to Taiwan next.
Someone else mentioned, "low traffic destinations will sit until there are enough shipments" with DHL.
