eBay - USPS ES shipping tracking fails.
Second time ordering a vintage postcard. Second time eBay is claiming it was delivered. It was not. There are no issues with my mail, nor my standard mailbox. Until this system is rectified by eBay and the USPS, (sadly), I will not order anything using the eBay ES method, and I see no reason why eBay and the USPS can't work this out.

·2 years ago@maxi314 eBay Standard Envelope (ESE) is a metered mail shipment so it does not receive traditional tracking scans like a package would, and the clerk at the PO counter cannot scan it or track it. The envelope is scanned by sorting machinery at distribution centers along the way.
With ESE, a 'delivered' scan generally occurs at the last USPS sort facility before it gets to the buyer, so typically the buyer will receive their order a few days after the delivered scan.
If you just saw a delivery scan today then I suggest giving a couple more days for the envelope to turn up.
You can sign up for USPS Informed Delivery. You get an email every morning with images of letter mail you'll be receiving that day (ESE should be pictured with the letter mail), and the email will also show a list of package tracking numbers arriving that day.

When an item is pictured on your informed delivery email, but that item isn't delivered, you can log in to your account at usps.com and report that you didn't receive it. That alerts the PO and they will alert your carrier that a mail piece was missing from your delivery. If the carrier cannot locate it then you can send a message to your seller and see if they will assist.

OP2 years agoThank you. I apologies for the delay in responding. No matter what I have tried, I do not get notifications from "Community," until I receive the eBay question, Did you get the answer..." Anyway, this is an issue that eBay needs to solve in their contract with USPS.
But this also goes to lack of standardization for types of mailers, (and the packaging) used. To ask any Seller the 20 questions that seem necessary, but are burdensome, should not be necessary. I read every single word in listings.

·2 years agoWe always hope for a perfect selling or buying of an item. It's not a perfect world. Sometimes, an error might happen. You haven't really made a lot of purchases lately. So it's hard to tell exactly what happened.
Sometimes, these printed eBay shipping labels might make an error of an address...leaving out something.
As an example...Fort Lauderdale has the same name of street addresses like "NE' or "SE"...I had trouble finding my way back to my friend's house. LOL. Could be a missing apartment number or any number of things.
Usually working it out with the seller helps. We haven't really heard what the seller did or say.
I did enjoy reading some of your feedback 'responses' to sellers positive feedbacks.

OP2 years agoI'm relieved. Here I have gone along thinking it was a perfect world. The thing of it is, some things can be fixed, and that is true with this particular system. Sellers are not required to disclose such things as type of envelope used - whether they are acting on behalf of others and not having the item 'within reach' - for example. There are far too many unknowns that should be known.
It's funny that you mention my not having made many purchases of late. The opposite is true. Heh. eBay is still awaiting feedback on items I never purchased, but that were cancelled by either me, or the seller. I did purchase an item a couple of days ago that would have been sent via eBay's method, but just happened, by a hair's breadth in timing - to be communicating with a communicative seller and just happened to be able to divert to standard USPS mailing. But this shouldn't come down to luck.
Here is what I replied to the one other person who replied to my post:
