eBay standard shipping

Have been using eBay standard shipping for over a year. Why do some items only say "buyer paid-shipped" then when tracking is pulled up, shows "tracking number provided, ship by --/--" No "shipped to buyer-out for delivery-delivery". Very frustrating because I don't know if buyer got item or not because a lot of them do not leave feedback. And I have had a couple buyers saying item not received but still want it. I just refunded because I shipped a month earlier and tracking number was never scanned at any PO.

·4 months ago@jeff9915 eBay will show the item is shipped once you buy the shipping label. eBay will update the date of the carrier scan when that happens. If you are not making sure the carrier scans your packages, it is possible it won't get done later on though it should. If the carrier never scans, it will always look like you bought the shipping label but never gave it to the carrier.
To avoid all of this you need to give your packages to the clerk at the counter and have them scan them while you are there, then get a receipt.
So there is no confusion, you are responsible for the package until there is a delivery scan. If there is never a delivery scan and your buyer opens an Item Not Received, there are several options you have but you must act quickly.
First, at any point you can always refund the buyer if the last estimated delivery date has passed. As long as you bought your shipping label from eBay, there are seller protections in place. If the buyer later recieves their package, eBay will reimburse you. You may have to reach out to them though as I do not know how proactive they are about this.
I do not refund right away. I first try to find the package. If the tracking shows there is movement on the package but it is running late, I upload the tracking number and put in the text box that the package is running late. If I happen to know why it is running late (e.g. bad weather), I will put that in my INR response as well. eBay will generally extended the timeframe of the INR claim in this case.
If the tracking shows there had been movement, but it stopped and there have been no scans for 72 hours, I file a missing mail request (if USPS is the carrier). I then respond the INR claim by uploading the tracking number and stating that I've filed a missing mail search request to try to locate the buyer's package. In the text box you can explain what you did or, if there is a known issue, you can explain that. Whatever the situation is, I generally will note that if the buyer has not recieved the package by a certain date (normally 3 business days), then I'll issue a full refund to the buyer.
Whatever you do, always make sure you promptly upload the tracking number and respond to the INR claim. Otherwise the buyer can have eBay step in on the 4th business day after filing the claim. You will lose all seller protections at that point, eBay will refund the buyer from your eBay account, and you will get a strike on your account.
USPS Ground Advantage (which is USPS's standard shipping service) comes with $100 of insurance. You can file a claim through that and get reinbursed. You can read about filing USPS claims here. Since you had to refund a buyer, I would definitely file a claim.

·4 months agoNote that the OP is using eBay Standard Envelope for shipping, which does not offer actual tracking, nor can the carriers do either Acceptance or Delivery scans on an eSE package.

·3 months agoI'm having the same problem. I plan to start sending it regular USPS mail. Everything else I mail, makes delivery time. Save a little.
