eBay standard envelope shipping label
Please, I need help. I talked to eBay customer service and think the answer they gave was B???
I'm trying to print a shipping label for a eBay standard envelope and it only gives the option to print it vertically. I don't believe USPS will deliver or can scan the barcode on a label that is sideways on a standard envelope as customer service suggests.
How do I print a label that is horizontal so that i can put it on a standard envelope?

·6 months agoESE works for some sellers, and does not work for others.
It is intended for use by sellers who are willing to make so little profit that they will grasp at any straw that appears to allow them to work for slave wages by selling items of little value.
Although, as shipping costs increase and tastes change, there are many more items not worth the effort of selling online.
Those who persist in using ESE after they have experienced the unreliability of the service need to recognize it will never improve. USPS offers it to help defray the costs of the shrinking volume of letter mail and will not invest in the costs of upgrading the letter sorting equipment.
I would recommend you stop wasting your time and energy and find something to sell which justifies a higher priced shipping method.

OP6 months agoThanks to everyone who answered. I found out what the problem was. I listed the item using USPS first class mail so the eBay shipping label wanted to print in the vertical position used for packages. I changed my listings to use eBay Standard Envelope as the shipping preference. Now the label prints horizontally and works for letter envelopes

Yes, the label needs to be horizontal with the envelope, just like you would write it on yourself and place a stamp. It's probably your settings, the labels should be horizontal in the pdf. Are you using a label or paper printer? Make sure the label size is set to 4x6 (2 per page if plain paper) in ebay settings, and make sure your printer is set to portrait.

If you were trying to send those DVDs with ESE, they DO NOT qualify. Letter mail must be able to bend around an 11" circle at high speed. They would be rejected by the machine and either sent on as non machinable or returned (slowly). Both options could also come with postage due. You may see the others again still.
If your envelopes fit within the max dimensions, you may be able to send them as 'non machinable letter'. They would be untracked and you have to get the postage sticker from the PO.

Is there anyone out there that currently ships small lightweight items like stamps or cards in regular standard or business envelopes that uses an eBay Standard Envelope Shipping Label to ship their items that can help me with questions about the process?

·6 months agoI shipped 5 eBay Standard Envelopes around the beginning of Feb. Only 1 person got the item they paid for. The other 4 just disappeared. There's no actual tracking with the eBay Standard Envelope if the PO decides not to scan into computer. Mine ended up in NH, CA, MA, & ILL & then all stops there. Called Ebay nothing they can do can't track them, and PO can't locate them. I got a $3 refund from some 3rd party company for shipping, but lost out on the price of my items as Ebay refunded buyers and left me out in the cold. Would never use eBay Standard Envelope again. What's sad is now buyers will be paying $4-5 to ship something that's only $1.30 to ship.

I bet that your reply is going to be the most accurate since eBay is by far the most un-informative business site that I have ever used.
It's as if they only tell you half of what you need to know. The other half is up to your interpretation, right or wrong.
I'm looking for the simplest of remedies and what does eBay customer service tell me to do? Oh just turn the label sideways, USPS machine scanning will see it! **bleep**. Everything I've seen says you can't do that. Am I wrong? Does everyone that ships using a regular envelope just put the label on sideways?
