eBay Standard Envelope Prices Raised, Again
I just noticed "eBay Standard Envelope" shipping prices have increased again... $0.74 for 1 oz, $1.03 for 2 oz and $1.32 for 3 oz. It is still much cheaper than the smallest Ground Advantage option but am hoping with the price increase comes overall improvement when using this method. I ship tons of cards using this method and still experience several issues... tracking updates are rarely available, there have been several cards I shipped and were delivered but the tracking history still shows the item In Transit. There have also been several cards that were shipped and never delivered so I have to issue a refund... and part of me suspects some buyers actually receive the card but since the tracking does not show it as delivered, then they can easily state they did not receive it and since the tracking is very unreliable, who is to say whether it was delivered or not?
Because of this I am moving away from selling individual cards less than $5 and anything over $5 I am using Ground Advantage... its becoming too risky and less valuable to use the eBay Standard Envelope method since the prices continue to increase and at the same time decereasing the value of this option since you end up refunding a few sales and losing a card in the process since the delivery and tracking for this method clearly has holes in it.
Just my two cents... I am sure others have a better experience with this method but for me it is discouraging seeing no improvement in this method, yet the cost to utilize it still increases.

·1 year agoNot only will no aspect of the service change with this price increase, nothing about this service will ever change unless First Class Letter Mail changes (never going to be for the better).
This is a service which exists to increase First Class Letter volume without any investment.
If you choose to sell items which aren't worth shipping GA, you choose to gamble with the results of your sales.
Some sellers manage to master the art of packing for ESE which gives them minimal problems, some sellers never can because the products they sell do not lend themselves to inadequate protection.
Moving away from selling cheap <bleep> is a good idea if you can whether you use ESE or not.

·1 year agoESE is just metered first class letter mail. Nothing is changing about it, for better or worse... except the price unfortunately.
As long as your envelopes are properly flexible, the vast majority will get there, and you do have up to $20 of insurance on them. You will still come out ahead with ESE even if you lose one once in a while, and $5-10 cards with today's ridiculous 4oz GA shipping cost will sell far more slowly than those with the 74 cent ESE shipping cost.

·1 year agoThe insurance on the ESE only pays the cost of the item, not the postage. Still worth it.

·1 year agoWhy aren’t you just submitting PIP claims usps pays out within 72 hours for all lost ese orders. No reason to refund an ese order and be out of money.

The new price just reflects the USPS increase effective tomorrow.
ESE has an insurance plan for any label that got at least one processing scan. (your time/effort to file may not be worth the gain of insurance)
