eBay Standard Envelope rates were supposed to increase on 7/9 per eBay's announcement about USPS rate changes:

Also effective July 9, 2023, eBay standard envelope rates will be:
1 oz. $0.63
2 oz. $0.87
3 oz. $1.11

However many listings in the single trading card category (and likely others I haven't checked) are still charging the old rates to buyers - leaving sellers to pay the difference when they go to print the labels that are accurately reflecting the new increased prices.

Some sellers may be faced with having to choose between cancelling orders or losing money/having their profits eaten into because eBay didn't update the prices properly.

@devon@ebay @elizabeth@ebay @kyle@ebay can you get this reported please and also will eBay be refunding affected sellers for the difference in postage?

Well eBay on e again increased the price of the "eBay Standard Envelope"

It went up to 0.63 at the beginning of this thread and that's the price that's being advertised...now it's charging 0.69Â¢. Would this not be deemed as false advertisement?

This thread is about the 2023 price increase, not the 2024 price increase. USPS is the one raising rates, not eBay.

And my envelopes that sold today are still alternating randomly between costing 60 cents and 63 cents to print.

It says in ebays posts that everything is not updated yet. Plus c'mon really ya thought this was going to go smoothly?!

@pooh333piglet what post are you referring to? I don't see any announcement from eBay that says Standard Envelope is not updated yet.

The official post says changes are being updated today. Are in process. I'm on phone app and I honestly don't have time to search it out. It's pinned to the top. Give these changes a chance. Over what 3 cents?

If you are referring to the announcement post about USPS Ground Advantage that has nothing to do with eBay Standard Envelope and is a separate issue completely.

Ground advantage separate issue but not entirely. These are usps changes and increases that went into effect sunday but the issues and glitches get worked out the next business day. Or you hope it does. It generally doesn't go smoothly fir all changes. Do you know any programmers? They can tell you why. It's not easy. Have patience.

@pooh333piglet thanks but you seem to have misunderstood the point of my post - there's nothing for me to be patient about or take easy, the purpose of this post was simply to bring the issue to the attention of eBay staff here in the community so that it doesn't get lost in the many other shipping issues going on with USPS Ground Advantage that are completely separate issues.

And yeah, with over 16 years working for multi-million dollar ecommerce operations, I completely understand the programming involved - not looking for an explanation of that either.

On that note - @devon@ebay @kyle@ebay @elizabeth@ebay the eBay listing form is still showing the wrong rates for eBay Standard Envelope to sellers when creating listings and showing/charging the wrong rates to buyers on active listings.

If you use a business policy for standard envelope and set your own rate as I would say 90 percent of card sellers do then this would not be an issue at all. When the price changed I increased the price on my business policy by 3 cents and went on with my life.

Before this thread I had no idea that calculated standard envelope even existed, and I have 13,000 card listings.

Even if you were a high volume card seller shipping 100 per day and it took them 2 whole days to sort this out then it would be $6, which would not be worth the amount of time it would take to contact customer service.

In addition to the screenshots I provided above that show the wrong prices still being shown to buyers, I just did a draft in the single card category and eBay is still showing $0.60 for 1 oz - that is not correct and sellers shouldn't have to pay the extra $0.03 that will be charged when they go to print the label.

Printing some now, I see some are listed at 63 cents and some are at 60 cents while processing them as a lot. I assume the system is actively updating them all right now, as they aren't even in the order that they sold.

You need to change what you are charging for standard envelope in your business policies.

Also, any rollover date you can have orders with calculated shipping that were placed before the rollover but not shipped until after the rollover.

Anyone shipping standard envelope should probably watch these two videos on the subject, particularly if your margins are such that 3 cents for a day or two is going to matter.

@onefootflipper2 you shouldn't have to change anything in your shipping policies. The rates went up and eBay's shipping calculator should be automatically updating to the new rates.

This isn't about labels being printed before or after the roll over - eBay is currently today (7/10) still showing listings with the old rate and charging the old rate to buyers but when sellers go to print labels they are being charged the new higher rate.

eBay should have changed the rates being charged automatically yesterday as that is when the new rates went into effect - it's 100% on eBay that they didn't do it and whether or not $0.03 makes a huge difference in a sellers's margins they shouldn't have to eat that cost on principal alone when it's eBay's error.
