Ebay Standard Envelope is grayed out
Sold an aceo for 5.99. Even though i set it to the "ebay Standard Envelope" in "shipping policy" its not set that way to print the label. I have it in my listing and my buyer chose it as well. When I go to "Print Label" that shipping option is grayed out and "ebay Ground Advantage" (for $5.53) is checked and I can't uncheck it. Within the grayed out option it even says that my buyer chose "ebay Standard Envelope" as well. It won't print that choice. Does anyone know how can I get it to work right?

·7 months agoWas it listed in Collectibles/Art/Paintings? You won't be able to print an ESE label for it if you listed it in that category.
If it is a low value aceo (under ~$20), just mail it with a stamp this time. 2oz Ground Advantage will be almost 5 times more than a 2oz letter, it wouldn't be worth 5x the cost just to have a tracking number and buyer protection on a low value, very low risk item, sending it GA you would just be lighting your money on fire.
ESE or stamp, make sure your envelope is small enough and light enough for letter mail, and can flex easily (like around a coffee cup) without damage to the aceo (could the paint crack if flexed around a large coffee cup?)
There is an Excel spreadsheet on the ESE information page, which lists the over 1500 categories ESE is allowed to be used (including some that don't even make sense, like artist brushes). Make sure you list your aceos in an ESE category (there is no exact aceo category). When you go to print the ESE label, make sure the envelope size is set small enough (9x6x1 works, even though thickness limit is actually 1/4") and 3oz or less, or the ESE option will still be greyed out, even if listed in the right category.

OP6 months agoThat covers all the things involved in my shipping dilemma. Yeah, I have to figure in some things and learn what will work best. Like the categories and I don't want to risk the paint cracking.... Thank you for the considerations. Appreciate it.

·7 months agoWhen you try to create a label, what size is in the dimensions section?
If the size does not work for ESE the option will be grayed out. You have to put the correct dimensions for the ESE rules.
There also may be a drop down box that allows you to choose "ebay" in the carrier options.
Make sure it is selected to show eBay as that is the eBay standard envelope.

·7 months agoYour other option is to mail it as First Class Letter (Forever stamp up to 1 ounce) but that is without tracking. As long as the envelope is not more than 1/4 inch and it is flexible you can do this. I do this occasionally and have not had a problem with lost items. But if it does not arrive I know I have to refund.

·7 months agoI like what you are selling, very nice. Don't be afraid to charge more and add GA shipping. At 5.99 you need to sell a lot to make it worth while, at $25 you only need to sell a few to make it worth it!

OP6 months agoThank you for the encouragement and good advice. I was thinking of asking $2.76 shipping from a buyer and pick up the other half myself. GA great for my items as long as the package is not flat. If it's flat it won't qualify for GA at the post office. A lady there told me that some people include one of those styrofoam packing peanuts to make it not flat. I did that while keeping the card protected for shipping. So far so good. I will up the price a bit too as it's necessary to stay selling on eBay, which I like doing. Thanks for replying.

·7 months agoWhile eBay allows a seller to choose ANY shipping option on the create listing page, they expect seller to know the limitations of the service they select. If you choose an option your item is not eligible for it will be greyed out when you try to purchase a label. ESE eligibility is determined by category, and I believe the category your item is listed in is not eligible.
Thus your options are to pay for Ground Advantage or take an OOS defect for canceling.
