Ebay Standard Envelope and the $20 rule- Edit: and does it include shipping
It's allowing me to list items that are in qualified categories( a coin) and price it above $20 but still select Standard Envelope as the shipping method. When it sells will I be able to use EBays standard envelope and it will only be Insured up to $20( even though the price is $29), or will it not let me print the label at all, because the sale price is above $20.?
I'm hoping to be able to use the system for items more than $20 and just accept the risk of only having $20 insurance.
Edit: If the rule is that I can't use the system unless the item is $20 or under, does that include the shipping price. For instance can I price the item at $20, and still charge the buyer $.73 cents and use Ebay Standard Envelope? even though the total is over $20?> I guess this question won't matter if I'm allowed to use it for items more than $20

·5 months agoThe $20 limit is on the item price only. The insurance will only cover the item price. So you can charge $20+$5 shipping just fine, but if it's lost you will only get back $20. While I have gone as high as $20+$10 shipping, IMO it looks goofy and probably turns off some potential buyers the more off it looks.
The listing page only takes category into account when showing shipping options. So while you can have ESE selected for a $29 item in the listing, you will not be able to buy the label for it.

·5 months agoI believe it only matters what the cost of the item is and doesnt include shipping or tax. You can still qualify for ebay standard shipping if you choose to list it at $29 and then accept an offer of $20 or less. Please know that while you can technically add it as a shipping service to any listing, BUT its only if the item is in the few allowed categories, and sells for $20 or less will you also be able to print a label for it.

·5 months agoEverything I read says the max is $20 (on a single item).......... If you could collect on a lost $29 item, I'd bet they would only reimburse $20, but they could refuse to reimburse anything since you violated the terms of the program.... I have nothing to back that up tho.........
