Usps has lost about 15 of our packages this year with this shipping, Ebay has now dinged us on 4 of the orders and we are no longer getting the top rated seller benefits, I don't know what to do at this point I call ebay and they say they are going to fix it and then they don't . I am very frustrated about this and our sales have slowed right down because of the new higher shipping cost. Anyone else having this issue? Or anyone know how to fix the issue?

·2 months agoYou can't add regular tracking to a first class letter (standard letter, nonmachineable standard letter, or flat.) You'd have to send them GA or Priority to have regular tracking, which on low value cards etc. would be really lighting your money on fire and making yourself uncompetitive to buyers.
You can use "letter track" to add letter tracking, but they use the exact same IMB barcode tracking ESE does, and eBay won't accept letter-track's tracking numbers... even though they both use the same IMB tracking.
I have tried and tried and tried to add tracking (that eBay accepts) to large envelopes/flats and non-machineable letters to keep my TRS. It is not possible, unfortunately.

·2 months agoCan card sellers just place the card in an envelope take it to the USPS and add tracking to a first class envelope? I know the tracking cost about $4, added with postage isn't that still cheaper than GA? I know its not much different than ESE, but at least you get full tracking

·3 months agoUsing ESE works for sellers who pack in a manner which does not lead to lost or damaged shipments.
There is no way in H*** that I am shipping a 100+ year old card without a toploader, even if it is an inexpensive card. It survived this long and I am not going to be responsible for its destruction.
The stingy man pays the most, and you are reaping the results of being stingy or greedy.

·3 months agoThey are not being scanned because your envelopes are not flexible enough and are being kicked out of the system. If you are using top loaders, stop! Follow OFF's advice above and your problems will go away. (I use a penny sleeve and a sheet of cardstock, but the result is mechanically the same.) The lack of flexibility is the problem. Despite what some say ESE works fine, IF envelopes are properly flexible. It is not perfect, but it does work, and they arrive 99.9%+ of the time just fine when envelopes are properly prepared.
Even if you lose your TRS status, the 10% fee discount would be negated by higher FVFs on GA shipping versus FVFs on ESE. Stick with ESE, just make sure they are properly flexible.
"Just use Ground Advantage" is not an option for the OP because many of their cards would be unsellable at today's ridiculous GA rates. No one will pay $6-7 to ship a $5-10 card, and the FVFs on that shipping would also be a margin killer for them. The answer is to just make sure envelopes are flexible and prepared properly.

·3 months agoDon't put those pokemon cards in top loaders. Put them in a normal gaming sleeve (the kind the people who actually play the game sleeve up their decks with), put the card you sold in that sleeve along with either 2 junk baseball cards or 4 junk magic/pokemon cards. Tape that off center inside a normal envelope and literally do nothing else, and all your standard envelope problems will vanish.
Also, realize that Pokemon customers make fraudulent claims at the highest rate of the card industry. Back when I worked in the card store and we shipped everything with stamps we had a 10 percent claim of not getting the item with pokemon cards, 3 percent claims on magic cards and with sports cards it just rounded down to zero (literally might go months without a single claim despite shipping dozens of them per day).

·2 months agoI sell thousands of cheap cards with top loaders using ESE mailing and never have a problem being returned. Need to know how to position the card in a 4"x9" envelope properly. I also use Armalope envelopes which work perfectly with top loaders (weigh under 1 oz) mail for 74 cents. They even have 2 slot Armalope envelopes to mail 2 top loaders (weigh under 2 oz) for $1.03. These also work great. The problem I have is with the machines not tracking my envelopes at times. I mail from NH and sometimes the first tracking shows up in TX, CA, FL, etc. That's an internal problem with USPS. Whenever eBay gives me a ding (defect) in my Sellers Dashboard for late shipment (USPS' fault, not mine) I request removal of defect and I get 100% results removing the defect. "Fight For Your Right......."

If you are shipping those trading cards using top loaders, that's your #1 problem -- the top loaders are too stiff to move at high speeds through the USPS sorting machines, and your eBay Standard Envelopes (ESEs) are getting kicked out as "non-machinable."
They may eventually be returned to you marked "Insufficient postage," or (worse yet) delivered to your buyers marked "Postage Due."
Or they may have simply been dumped in the latest USPS "Dead Letter" bin.
Stop using top loaders with the ESE!

·3 months agoYou don't know what to do? Change your shipping method to Ground Advantage. If you are using Ebay Standard Envelope yes that method has a high loss rate. This is a carrier issue so there is no way to actually fix this method other than changing to Ground Advantage. If it's too much then sell in bulk lot.

OP2 months agoThank you for your response, we have shipped over 400 cards via this shipping. We have found it is a spotty shipping service. With everything going on with usps with layoffs and other issues after the new year they have had more negative issues with this shipping service then positive. We have not done anything incorrectly and charge the maximum weight to ensure no problems. But have taken a break from this shipping service at the moment.

·3 months agoAre you talking about the eBay Standard Envelope (ESUS)? If that's the case, USPS hasn't lost them, they never got scanned by the USPS, which has nothing to do with this so-called "tracking service." You get what you pay for. And by the way, eBay is never going to do anything to fix this. They've been making that promise for several years now.

OP2 months agoWe have found out that certain usps facilities when they scan the ebay provided barcodes it flags a error and tells them that more shipping is due in there system. We have now changed most of our shipping to usps ground. Thank you for your response.

·3 months agoUse ground advantage instead of the Ebay Standard Envelope if this is a recurring issue. That's about all you can do if you want to maintain TRS status.
