eBay PLEASE FIX SHIPPING PAGE PRICES
Got a package packed and ready to go, only problem is the price of postage is in error. Shipping calculator estimates it should cost $4.41, cost on the shipping page is indicating $8.41 for the same Ground Advantage service. Matter of fact, all of the shipping services available to use have hyper inflated prices that are not accurate to the realistic prices that should be associated with shipping this item. The item weighs only 3 oz. and should not be anywhere near the $8 price range. And no, we do not have signature or insurance selected. Please fix this error in the shipping page so us sellers can meet our customers needs!!!

·1 year agoDon't know why USPS Media Mail is not an option for shipping manga books, which are eligible (no ads, etc.) If my listing is in the correct category, it should be automatically recognized as Media Mail eligible. I'd love to save a few bucks on Media Mail shipping!

·1 year agoIve been posting for a while about this its exactly $4.00 over the cost and ive been using same dimensions as before, this will be fixed when big sellers start complaining. I have been using paypal shipstation for the correct ammount minus the discount ebay offered before but it beats the $4 ebay price increase! that does not go towards USPS it goes to ebay's pocket.

Uncheck irregular package on your listings. When you buy your label change from nonstandard to standard packaging.
This isn't an error, it's your settings.

·1 year agoHmm. I don't see "irregular package" as an option anywhere. I just checked several different types of listings. Is this a category thing? Is it a fixed price thing? Most of our listings are calculated now. Bulk editing never really worked for us, something somewhere always seemed to "accidentally" get removed or altered when we used it and it really screwed things up. With 1700 items in this store alone I can't spend the time to manually change shipping costs several times a year. Also FYI, according to an article I read yesterday USPS is planning 2 price hikes per year through 2027. Even without this "irregular package" thing, the costs still seem higher to the customer than they should be. I run 4 stores and I've had to make 2 custom listings in the past 2 days for people who wanted to buy multiple of the same item but were complaining about shipping costs due to how Ebay is "calculating". Even after making the custom listings which had the exact correct weight and dimensions the calculated pricing was still higher than the buyer expected. I believe they just bought the items elsewhere as I didn't get the sale on either.

·1 year agoJust like the OP, check to see if you have "Irregular package" checked. An additional $4 fee just went into effect this week. For me it applies to posters that I ship in tubes. I use USPS Ground Advantage and they just jumped from $4.80 to $8.80.

·1 year agoSame issue, was shipping a bubble mailer that should have been $ 5.25 and was calculating at $8.25, I knew something was wrong. I called customer service, the irregular packaging drop-down is new, and my *.25 rate was calculated based on that and maybe defaulted in many cases like it did for me. Once I changed it back to regular packaging, the pricing reflected accurate shipping rates. The issue is, and this is what I expressed to the agent, what do the buyers see on the site? Do they see the shipping charge at the irregular default package rate which would make many buyers pass on purchases? Hopefully this gets corrected very soon.

·1 year agoWhen you use calculated shipping @shenett the buyer will see whatever you dictated on your listing. If you have "irregular package" selected on your listing, the buyer will see a ship cost that includes the surcharge. It's up to you to make sure your listings have accurate weight, dimensions, and package specs (irregular or not).
I glanced over your first page of listings and it looks like you're mostly charging flat rate ship costs which means the buyer-facing rate is just your flat rate and unaffected by whether you erroneously checked "irregular package" on the listing form or not.

·1 year agoThe error appears to be in the selection of "irregular package" in the packaging details. Never mattered before (for years) but seems to now. I wonder if eBay selects this by default? Will have to now edit all of my listings, OP should be informed as well.

·1 year agoJuly 16, 10:21 ET: Since the price increase, eBay has miscalculated ALL of my ground advantage shipping costs. I've had to refund the few angry buyers I've had since Sunday, some as much as $4.00 for a 4-ounce package. Listed some new auctions last night, the problem still is hot and active. Just took this screen shot of shipping details for one of my auctions. Using my own zip code for quote, so it is a 4oz ground advantage package with a 40¢ handling fee. It is quoting $10.80 plus the handling. 4 OUNCES ZONE 1. Should be $6.80 according to new zone charts. THAT'S A $4 SCREWUP BY EBAY. (Added on top of the already insane 35% increase in 4 ounce ground advantage rates effective on Sunday - **bleep**.)
Of course I have no bids, barely any interest. THIS IS KILLING SALES AND ANGERING POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. Have gotten incredulous messages already from potential buyers.

Revise your listing and find the package dimensions / weight. Below that do you see "irregular package" is selected? That would account for the $4.00 USPS price difference.

·1 year agoWOW. That is new, it never mattered before (we're talking decades here) with the old first class, or more recently with Ground Advantage, but it worked. It is now showing the correct postage. I've got a big project ahead of me editing listings. Ugh. But thanks. The OP needs to check this.

Unfortunately it's not so easy to remove irregular in bulk, but it is easy to apply irregular in bulk.
To remove irregular using the bulk edit tool you also have to override the dimensions.
So let's say you have a group of items all shipping in an 8x8x8 box - bulk edit all of those in the bulk edit tool by entering 8x8x8 dims without irregular selected and that should fix them.
Then move on to your next group of items shipping in a different size package.

·1 year agoMost of my ground advantage items ship in packaging that is under the dimensional rate volume of 144 cubic inches (1 square foot), so I can effectively bulk edit them all using a made-up dimension of say 7"x5"x2" and it won't matter what my actual package sizes are. I will try that, because as you say, the irregular package feature can't simply be removed alone in the bulk edit. Crossing my fingers...

There was a rate increase at USPS on July 13th. If you offer free shipping this is a consequence. You may want to bulk edit all your prices to accommodate the new shipping rates. If you use calculated shipping the issue corrects itself.

·1 year agoI had same problem on monday, Ground shipping calculated at $9.06, the price increase was supposed to be a 7% not a 99%, ebay shipping calculater has a problem, I ended shipping all packages on shipstation (paypal) at $5.06 each! not $9.06, people like you think that this price hike is the intended increase but its not, its an error, yesterday it was fixed and I could ship all orders on ebay at $5,06 each (ground) today the error is back at $9.20 each! its not normal and this has to be fixed! ebay is not reading the forums it seems

·1 year agoThe buyers are always shown and charged retail rates with calculated postage. It is not a matter of what I am paying for the postage (although that would be incorrect also, if I bought my postage thru eBay, but I don't, I use Endicia). It is the shock of what the buyer is asked to pay on the listing. Here's the SYI form for the item, showing the shipping options. Right there eBay shows me inaccurate rates for the buyer. Again, for a 4-ounce package. It should be 6.80-7.90, a $4 difference across the board for all zones.

Actually no, that is false. You can offer buyers the Retail rate, a % discount off the Retail rate, A Flat rate cost, or offer them the Discounted rate (same rate you would get buying the label from eBay).
What do you have yours set to?
Depending on those settings, the buyer will see a price reflected that way. The price you may be seeing is the discounted rate. I did a shipment earlier this week:
Yeah, the rare sale where I come out ahead a bit. Though they made an offer and got it for less than it was listed at, still. Don't feel bad for the buyer, they were drop shipping.
There is a setting for this in your shipping policy page. eBay often defaults sellers to offering the discounted rate to buyers. And this cause lead to cost issues, especially if the seller mis-calculated their cost before hand. Which is VERY easy to do.
But the Retail rate is usually (or should be) what the buyers are seeing. And that is going to look scary.
This is one of the reasons using free shipping is an advantage on smaller items. You don't have to scare the buyer with the cost, as long as you make sure you pad the item's price to cover your cost to buy the shipping.

·1 year agoI was forced to put my listings on Vacation with this new shipping service which is showing at my end - I can't even add Free shipping as the square where you check is gone . I wish who ever comes up with ideas would leave well enough alone

·1 year agoCan you post a screenshot (black out buyer details)? Are you sure you didn't accidentally check "irregular package" which would account for a $4 bump?

This was my error, the new $4 upcharge for a cylindrical items or rolls was selected in the drop down box. Which was odd because we have never indicated on any items in our shipping section to be cylindrical. So lesson learned, check to see if irregular package or cylindrical tubes or rolls is selected. It shouldn't have been switched away from "standard box, envelope, or polybag". Check your dropdown box under hazardous materials before purchasing labels!
