eBay miscalculating postage on listings
My Fellow Sellers...
URGENT ALERT
I have approx. 1400 listings. My sales have oddly gone down and
I've had many inquiries regarding what my postage is high, including another yesterday.
A sampling I've looked at so far, most have been incorrectly calculated by eBay, comparing to USPS Rate calculator. Oddly, there is seemingly to be an increase of $4.00 in each of the sampling I reviewed containing errors!!
This has been quite impactful for up to a pound package!!
I actually came across this error last week when a one pound package eBay overcharged the buyer incorrectly and also my acct, which I was forced to ship Priority as it was cheaper!! ($4.00 difference!!)
I've called Seller Support, which was a difficult call as Rep didn't seem to want take concerns and it has been over 24 hrs with no acknowledgement or help from IT looking into this.
CHECK YOUR LISTINGS IMMEDIATELY . CALL SELLER SUPPORT. if they get enough calls, it will finely register a concern for correction.
Please comment your findings . I hope though, you are affected.

·1 year agoWouldn't prevent the problem in this case if the seller is buying their shipping labels through eBay. When 'irregular package' is selected on the listing form, it's also selected on the label page. It's unclear at this stage whether that setting will affect eBay International Shipping rates and eligibility in the future.
Whether or not the seller offers free shipping, they should have accurate package info on their listings.
Most sellers having this problem are using 'sell one like this' from another seller's listing and not checking the shipping settings, or they checked it themself in error. Sellers with a lot of listings affected have continued to use 'sell similar' from their own listings (or used a template) over the years so the setting is carried to each listing.

·1 year agoHi @a-new-chapter - this is seller error. You have "irregular package" checked on the listing form.
View the 'nonstandard packaging' link in my signature below to learn more and for screenshots of what you need to change. Post also includes tips for performing bulk updates.

OP1 year agoPS.
Of those affected listings, I tried revising them even to the extent of changing package to bed sheets, it did not work! I also ended the listing and relisted the same product including the original Shipping dimensions.. and eBay listed it again $4 higher than what the USPS shipping calculator states. This is a huge problem. Overstating the listing postage in excessive and if a sale, Overcharging the buyer and overcharging the seller! If I happen to come across any other connections to this glitch of thoughts, I'll be sure to post here with updates. Thank you for sharing & caring!

·1 year agoCan you provide a screenshot of the shipping section from the editing/revising page of one your affected listings with the "See shipping options" menu opened (opens with just a button click)?

·1 year agoNot necessary. OP is using the app and 'irregular package' has not yet been added to the listing form on the iOS app. I advised them yesterday to use the website to make immediate updates.
