Ebay international shipping scam
So here's the deal. If you sell an overseas customer something that costs $200 and we will say shipping costs $58, and the customer does not get the item because it arrived at the hub but never arrived at the destination, you as the seller are only reimbursed a maximum of $100, plus there is no option to purchase additional insurance to cover the remaining amount. So if you are selling items more than $100, you are screwed, eBay doesn't give a hoot. You are just SOL. At least with shipping things the old fashioned way, you could buy insurance, and be able to track the package. With ebay international shipping there is no mechanism to track it past the hub. Do not believe Ebays lies about this program. And removal of bad comments? Who cares, that buyer is never going to buy from you again.

·3 years agoYou got paid. Once the item arrived, it's NOT yours anyway. So even if it broke or got lost at the hub or on it's way to the buyer, you are NOT responsible anymore. It's NOT your item either so why should get insurance money after it leaves the hub? Ebay refunded the buyer and should not have taken a cent from you. Or am I mis-understanding your post?

·3 years agoIf the item shows delivered to the hub...then ebay covers the full refund to the buyer.

You can purchase additional insurance for the US part to the hub. If the item arrives damaged at the hub, then an insurance claim will be filed.
After the item leaves the hub, it is all on Ebay.
What happens if the international carrier breaks or damages the item after it leaves the hub?
The seller is not responsible for items damaged in transit after it arrives at our domestic shipping hub.
How will international returns be handled?
Once your item is received undamaged at the domestic shipping hub, your sale is considered complete. If the buyer opens a return, eBay will issue a refund at no cost to you.
Go to the site and read over the faqs to get a better grasp.
Contact Ebay again. Make sure they know it was shipped through EIS. Ask if the item was damaged when it arrived at the hub. If damaged after leaving the hub, why isn't Ebay covering the full cost since the seller is not responsible after the item leaves the hub. You can try bringing up international returns how Ebay covers the full cost. If necessary, direct them to their own faq board.

·3 years agoIt's not a scam, but ebay figured that's how they lose the least amount of money if something goes wrong. I don't use their program. There are other label providers where you can insure your packages. If your packages are less than 4 lbs, they are much cheaper than ebay.
