Ebay International Shipping and Slow/NO sales
Before I was switched to Ebay International a month ago, I would sell 3-4 items every week through the GSP. In the last 4 weeks I have sold 2....going to Canada. Nothing else anywhere. That is VERY odd as I have always sold regularly through GSP every week of every year for many years. Anyone else seeing this and having the same issue? Is Ebay International just much more expensive for the overseas buyer? I have a hard time believing this is just a coincidence that I get switched and my overseas sales tank...

·2 years agoEbay's suggested times of arrival are making my business look bad when they don't arrive when Ebay says they should. USPS and Ebay international distribuition have been super slow since Covid and i get messeges daily from people saying their packages are not in their hands when it has been taking up to 6 weeks to reach someone in Canada. I wish Ebay would either work faster on getting the new tracking information to the customer faster or change the Arrival projected dates to something that is a little realistic. Packages to Austrailia have been taking up to 8 weeks on some of my sales. And I get a customer contacting me 2 weeks into the journey.... It's very frustrating having to tell people to be patient and to contact ebay. I have refunded MANY of my sales since covid because of the bad slow service. Who do I contact to complain about this?

·2 years agoextremely slow, far slower than standard airmail postage.. and EXTREMELY expensive for the level of service. tracking doesnt work properly (can only track on the ebay site).
i avoid all goods sold with Ebay International Shipping goods like the plague after my first two mistakes, and i'm about to claim a refund on a package that is still in transit due to the seller misleading about postage method used.
you're far better off with a budget parcel delivery from your national postal service such as USPS

·2 years agoMy experience of EIS as a buyer is also negative. It is unbelievable slow and expensive. Shipping cost for two very small items to Finland was almost $27 including VAT. Seller shipped items Nov 8th and latest tracking info from Nov 29th is:

It is almost 4 weeks and packet/envelope is still in US. Learned my lesson. If EIS is the only shipping option, I'll buy somewhere else.

·2 years agoas a buyer I don't like EIS because of having to pay sales tax VAT twice and long delays at customs and how everything is shipped as a letter because the Danish Post Office only delivery letters 1-2 times a week so it takes even longer time for EIS items to show up. GSP was much better, it was faster and I did not had to pay customs twice.

·3 years agoI used to do more ebay shipping. But with this Ebay international shopping i mostly gave up on Ebay
I guess it will depend on the destination, but Items to ZA works out WAY more expensive with this option and takes more than double the delivery time.
In the past most items from the west as shipped with FedEx. Tracking was up to date and delivery was quick!
Now some other courier is being used and i have items showing "arrived at shipping hub" for weeks.
Also have an item that was delivered but still showing its due for delivery? I guess the seller is still waiting for payment, although it was delivered?
Ebay will see less of me.

·3 years agoOne thing worth checking...since there ARE some issues currently being debugged by eBay tech staff regarding EIS.
Pick a country that you have sold to in the past, lets use 'France' as an example.
Choose a listing, then go to the shipping tab and open up the list of available countries (or review the text for the countries displayed)
Does France show in the list? Or is it missing even though setup to allow it?
There are some subtleties configured rather opaquely at many levels.
I suspect that individual countries can be 'blacklisted' at the category level, and perhaps there are even internal 'bots' that scrape keywords that blacklist countries at the listing level due to potentially restricted classifications for customs acceptance.
I will make up an example: "Robotic Surgery Tool" may be something that triggers a blacklist for importation to the country of Luxembourg. When you list a comic book called 'Superman uses Robotic Surgery Tool' it gets blacklisted by mistake. I am just guessing at how this could work.
When you walk into a UPS store they dont enforce or know about most customs blocks, they let you try do it. Its hit or miss if the customs inspector catches it, even when disallowed. There were known problems with customs failures using GSP that led to items being confiscated and non-returnable, leading to very upset sellers.
The new system (EIS) is trying to support a much more complicated set of checks and I suspect it is surfacing some issues.
Or, maybe none of this applies and you are just experiencing a lull as other posters suggest.

·3 years agoIts a coincidence , i am a buyer from Mexico and Ebay international is a lot more cheaper than GSP and more convenient , already got 5 items without paying any import tax ... I normally buy from the money of my sales but sales have been very bad the last weeks almost for everyone.

·3 years agoLook into Pirateship for shipping to Canada...and yes, Ebay International Shipping (EIS) can get expensive because not only are the buyers having to pay the international shipping costs, but they pay your domestic shipping as well.
For example, you have an item with $30 international shipping and your domestic rate is $15, your customer is paying $45. But, to be fair, I believe GSP operated similar if not the same.
