eBay envelope for trading cards under $20 - quantity of cards in order
I was just unable to combine 3 trading cards that totaled under $3 into this shipping option, despite the weight, dimensions, and price all being acceptable.
When I called customer support they told me that I can only ship 2 cards in an envelope. Is this new? I have never had that problem before, and had to cancel the buyers order because it would only let me choose ground advantage at $4.20. I wasn’t even able to buy multiple eBay envelopes (which would be cheaper) as the buyer had paid. I would otherwise lose money on an order as shipping cost more than the money I would have made.
Has anyone else had this problem? How do I stop this from happening again?

·2 years agoI am getting more and more discouraged with Ebays standard envelope. I had 4 separate orders/envelopes in one day returned as non machinable, all 4 were just a single card in a top loader. I went to the post office to inquire why they would be getting returned. She said they are taught that if the can't put it on the edge of a table and bend the envelope at a 90 degree angle at its most rigid point they deem it non machinable.
I had a good run of everything getting delivered then all of a sudden I had 3 in a little over a few weeks that i had to refund as did not receive. My did not receive percentage has jumped to .57 %

·2 years agoI have shipped tens of thousands of standard envelopes. As far as generating the label ebay ONLY cares about the category, weight, total value of the order and that no single card goes over $20. It doesn't even hold you to the supposed 15 card limit.
The biggest actual problem with the system is shipping your envelopes in such a way that they do not attract the attention of postal employees who are making up their own rules. And most of the things that you are naturally going to want to do are the same things that attract that attention (overpacking mostly).

·2 years agoOP are you using EBAY STANDARD ENVELOPE on your ad listings as the way that you are shipping the cards? You must use it, plus you must use the correct category to ship in or the option when you pay your shipping , will not show Ebay standard envelope. There are only a few categories you can use Ebay standard envelope on. I can ship 4 cards using Card Savers, and 5" x 7" envelopes. Make them vertical, 2 on top of 2. Tape the 2 cards side by side with blue painters tape, then 2 more on top side by side with blue painters tape. then tape to card board. They should be less than 1/4" and they will bend in the middle with the painters tape, so will go thru sorting machine. $1.08 for 4 cards. Also, Photograph everything. You will find that some "dishonest" buyers will say I didn't get all of my cards. I just had one last week try to claim that. I have been selling on Ebay for 21 years. I have photographed everything start to finish, for 21 years. Sure it takes longer, but it is your proof. Plus the difference in weight. I card was less than 1 oz, .63,,, 2 cards was 2 oz rounded up. .87 printed right on the label. I package, photograph and ship like everyone is a scammer. There is plenty out there, who will take advantage, if you allow it.

·2 years agoI am able to mail 4 trading cards in a standard envelope by dropping it into the post office for .66 cents.
I don't think I really need tracking for inexpensive trading cards. Envelope is bendable and under the 1 / 4 inch thickness. I think I would rather do this sometimes than lose a sale. Buyers who collect trading cards are usually going to be repeat buyers. Repeat buyers tend to be honest and you really don't need tracking. A buyer doesn't want to get blocked from a seller for INR so they tend to be honest. I usually do tracking with those with 0 feedback or orders over $30.

·2 years agoI thought so too, especially with the posts about eBay wanting tracking numbers for some awful amount of shipments even though they're listed in our Sellers Hub.
I was taken to task for saying that I thought it was required on another post. Told to make my own post with lots of ????? at the end lol.
Tracking is for our proof that we sent it on time, that it arrived and that's it, apparently. (Though uploading tracking numbers is its own entry in our little seller ranking/metric page.) If you send something without tracking and the buyer says they never received it, well, you know what happens then.
Also, those customer service reps don't know anything about eBay. They work on a "fake it 'til you make it" philosophy, and their goal is to get you off the phone or chat as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about eBay envelopes and when I tried to learn about them using the Help pages, I found a broken link, so couldn't even see what they look like.
Hopefully someone who knows how they work, or are supposed to work, will see your post. Wish I could be of more assistance. I'm sorry.

I just found it strange because I’ve been able to do this many times before. Just not today, and I couldn’t find anything saying the policy had changed. I had a few orders later on of stickers (same category as the cards) that I could mail 9 of in the eBay envelope shipping method. I always write in the description to request an invoice at checkout for multiple items, but most of my buyers don’t bother.
